Google is known for keeping its apps up to date, and the Google app is no exception. The latest update is version 4.1 and includes some new features, particularly new settings to control Google Now cards. Anything beyond the most basic control over Google Now cards has been missing from the Google app for quite some time. Now, Google has devoted a section in the settings to “Now cards”, allowing you to turn cards on or off, manage your preferences, control notifications and view the card history in the web browser.
The update also features a revised voice typing design, nine new Indic languages including Hindi and Punjabi, and a change in the lock screen settings for the “Ok, Google” hotword detection. No longer is the toggle labeled as “When locked”, but it’s been changed to say “Personal results”. This comes to inform you that personal information, such as contact information or calendar events, will be available from the secure lock screen via Google Now.
The update is rolling out now through Google Play.
