It looks as though Google will soon be pushing out a new update to the Play Store app that will introduce a new search bar as well as bringing back the beloved spinning arrow animation. The news comes from a Google+ post by Google UI engineer Kirill Grouchnikov, who posted a .GIF showing the new search bar as well as the spinning arrow animation that disappeared from the Play Store menu.

Play Store Update (4)

While it’s nice to see the spinning arrow animation making a return, the new search bar marks a much more intriguing change. The search bar is nearly identical to that of the one found in the Google search bar that’s found at the top of most Android homescreens. The change seems odd, as Google has set strictly defined standards for the action bar that seem contrary to this change. That aside, the search bar looks great and certainly won’t cause any problems.

No word on when the update is rolling out, but we’ll keep you posted.
