The SmartWatch 3 has been one of the more well-received Android Wear watches thanks in part to its somewhat future-proofed feature set that takes advantage of standalone Wear functionality better than most of its rivals. So if the somewhat plain look of the device was holding you back, then perhaps the stainless steel edition will change your mind.
Sony announced at CES that the stainless steel version would be coming in February and for once a company actually managed to stick to its announcement.
Despite the international launch beginning this week, we still have yet to hear what the price tag on the stainless steel SmartWatch 3 is going to be. Safe to assume it will be something more than the $249.99 Sony is asking for the standard version.
For those of you that are indecisive or want a different look for your watch on different occasions, Sony has the SmartWatch 3 “holder” kit coming sometime soon that will accommodate swapping in any 24mm watch strap.
Both the stainless steel SmartWatch 3 and the holder kits will come with vouchers for six months of Todoist Premium, which is a popular task manager and, logically enough given the name, to-do list app.
Was anyone waiting for this stainless steel edition to pull the trigger on a SmartWatch 3 or is there another Wear device in your sights this year?
