AT&T details HTC One M8 Android 5.0.2 update

If you’re an AT&T customer that got excited about the HTC One M8’s Lollipop update, but also cautious until AT&T confirmed the update too, you can now fully freak out.

AT&T has posted its information for the HTC One M8’s Android 5.0 update. The 550MB update will bump the AT&T One M8 to Android 5.0.2 and will bring with it the following tweaks:

Upgrade to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop (additional details available from Google)
Improved OS software design

  • Bold colors and bright contrast
  • New complex views and fluid animations

Better visibility for Recents and Calendar

  • New Schedule view
  • New event with promoted action
  • Calendar picker view has new drop down capabilities

Enhanced notifications

  • Notifications are more visible and accessible
  • Set notification priority and privacy for each application
  • Dismiss notification once across all Android devices

New recent apps

  • New Overview space (formerly called Recents)
  • Includes both apps and separate activities within those apps

Improved settings

  • Use a finger swipe to access drop down notifications and quick settings

Screen Pinning

  • Pin a specific app or screen to keep it in view

Share your device

  • Set up multiple user accounts on your phone

New battery settings panel
Other planned fixes, updates, and enhancements

The move from Android 4.4.4 KitKat to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop is going to be a big jump for you AT&T One M8 owners, giving you updated user interface elements like lock screen alerts and a new Recent Apps menu. If you want to try to get these goodies as soon as possible, you can manually check for the update by heading into Settings > AT&T Software update > Check for updates.
