Google’s Designed for Families program set to go live during Google I/O

Last month, Google announced its plans to start a new initiative giving family-friendly content in Google Play credibility and visibility by letting developers tag their content as Designed for Families. According to an email going out to developers, the Designed for Families program is set to launch on May 28, the first day of Google I/O.

Designed for Families is another way for Google to organize content on Google Play, while also giving parents the peace of mind that anything marked as Designed for Families is safe for children and free of inappropriate content. In the email going out now, Google is urging developers to submit their apps to the Designed for Families program before May 28, when it will apparently launch.

Be on the lookout for more information on Designed for Families on the first day of Google I/O 2015. We wouldn’t be surprised to see it get a special keynote shoutout.
