Now that the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge have been released, it’s obviously time that the rumor mill starts talking about what’s coming next.
According to a report from the Korea Herald, Samsung is planning on giving the display on its next flagship smartphone in the Galaxy S line, expected to be called the Galaxy S8, a significant boost. If the rumor is true, then the Galaxy S8 will feature a 4K UHD display. That would obviously mean plenty of promotion and bragging rights for the upcoming flagship, but the report also states it will boost the virtual reality (VR) experience, too, something that Samsung has focused on quite a bit recently.
As noted by SamMobile, the upgrade routine for Samsung flagship smartphone displays would seem to line up with this rumor. The Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5 both featured full HD displays, and the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S7 both boast Quad HD screens. So if Samsung is indeed planning on a smartphone with a 4K UHD display, the Galaxy S8 seems like a plausible candidate.
