Qualcomm has lifted the curtain off its latest processor, which more than likely will find its home inside many flagship smartphones in 2017.
The Snapdragon 835 is the next flagship processor from Qualcomm, who is actually collaborating with Samsung and its 10 nanometer FinFET process. That process will give the new processor a smaller footprint inside the device, which will make room for other components, like a larger battery gets tucked inside.
Qualcomm also expects there to be better battery life tied with phones that use the Snapdragon 835 thanks to a “more advanced chip design.” Qualcomm expects the SD835 to appear in phones beginning in early 2017.
The other announcement today from Qualcomm is Quick Charge 4.0, which will be supported by the Snapdragon 835. With Quick Charge 4.0, Qualcomm says you can get five hours of battery life with just five minutes of charging, which is indeed impressive. Getting to a 50 percent charge from zero, Qualcomm says, will take about 15 minutes.
Qualcomm says Quick Charge 4.0 will be available in the first half of 2017.
