T-Mobile updating Galaxy Note 7 to prevent it from charging

T-Mobile is updating its Samsung Galaxy Note 7, effectively rendering it useless. Yes, this update will disable charging of the battery altogether. You’ll have a dead phone on your hands.

The update is 113.75MB and will require at least a 30% charge before installing.¬†While this is a shame, folks shouldn’t really be using their Note 7s in the first place. Nonetheless, it’s still crazy that Samsung is remotely disabling the Note 7. T-Mobile is the first in the US to roll out this update, so we expect more to follow.
