The Pixel Launcher has finally hit the 1,000,000 download mark on the Play Store. However, since it’s exclusive to the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, it seems that Google has now sold a million of the devices.
The Pixel lineup of smartphones is new and not available from any carriers, so it makes sense that sales wouldn’t be rivaling big boys like iPhones and Galaxy flagships. Still, with the shortages Google has had due to higher than expected demand, 8 months to get to a million sales seems a bit low.
Thankfully, this is only the beginning of the Pixel line. The rumored followups are named “taimen” and “walleye” and are still in development and Google has even hired Apple’s hardware architect seemingly to make in-house processors. The Pixel line still has time to take off.
