We’re back week four and I’m just going to admit it: I’m running out of clever things to say. It’s really tough to introduce a set of wallpapers with gusto week after week, especially when people know they are coming. Hopefully my lame intro doesn’t make these wallpapers any less awesome.

Each week we’ve gotten a handful of requests for a black variant (the users even made a few for us), so this week we’ve got a dark-gray-on-black version for all you battery nuts out there.

It seems like you guys are starting to notice the pattern: each week we release a new tee and midway through the week we release some wallpapers based on said tee. But this week you guys like the art so much you started asking about the wallpapers immediately, so we put a rush on it.

Available for immediate download in three flavors (and resolutions) is The Underdog, a new wallpaper based on the tee from the And Me Artist Series by @frenden.

To use any of these, just navigate to this page on your phone > choose the appropriate link > long press on the image > select Set As Wallpaper > rock that beast!

Pro tip: if you’d like a different crop on your phone’s homescreen, save the tablet version and crop it with the built in wallpaper sizer/setter/etc.

If you like the illustration, have a look at the tee. It’s available through the end of the week and is shaping up to be the best selling tee in the series. Also, don’t forget to follow the artist on Twitter or send him a mention that you’re enjoying the work.

New high-res Android wallpapers available for download

Last week we released some wallpapers based on the current tee featured in the And Me Artists Series and the response was pretty clear: you guys like wallpapers. So we’re back for week two, this time with three completely original wallpapers available in various resolutions (tablet, high-res handset, low-res handset).

This week’s tee features plain type set in Helvetica and since we didn’t think that would make for the most thrilling wallpapers we took things in a different direction. Below we’ve got three new wallpapers: a desert scene featuring an Android catus, a perforated metal homescreen rocking the Android and Me logo, and an Android bird on simple white and gray branches.

It may just be brand bias, but I think that one in the center looks damn fine. To use any of these, just navigate to this page on your phone > choose the appropriate link > long press on the image > select Set As Wallpaper > rock that beast!

Android Schema: The Wallpaper, available in 3 sizes & colors

Over the past few days we had a few people ask if we’d be releasing the And Me Artist Series illustrations as wallpapers. The answer is yes. Available for immediate download is a wallpaper based on the first tee in the series, Android Schema by @angiedoes.

The wallpaper is available in three resolutions and in three color combinations. Choose your desired flavor below:

Meet Droid Week, a new app gallery from Android and Me

Today we are happy to announce Droid Week, the newest addition to the And Me Network. Droid Week is an app, game & widget gallery showcasing the best that Google Android has to offer. Each week (Monday AM) we post a new featured download. Each entry will contain four screens, a short description, download links, a QR code, reviews from the market, a poll to vote the app up or down, and twitter banter.

Droid Week is going to power our (sometimes neglected) weekly download feature here on Android and Me. Each week in the left sidebar you’ll find a short blurb and QR code ready for scanning. Once a month, we’ll name an app, game or widget as our featured download of the month (based on the voting over at Droid Week).

Droid Week is also sporting a fully featured mobile version. Visit any of the pages on your Android device for all the great Droid Week content on the run.

Droid Week will depend on the Android and Me community to nominate apps and drive the discussion surrounding the selected apps (through Twitter and our forums). Each week, the user that nominates the selected app will be given credit on the Droid Week homepage (along with a userpic and link). Users that consistently contribute will be rewarded with custom titles and privileges.

Droid Week is launching as part of the And Me Network, our new over-brand that is going to support all our future Android developments. We’ve got a handful of new Android sites in the pipeline and utilizing the And Me Network will allow rapid community growth and exposure (that previously would’ve taken months of slow building). Also launching today as part of the network is the Android and Me Store (more information to follow).

Halloween is fast approaching and to help everyone get in the ghoulish mood we’ve got a set of three spooky Halloween Android wallpapers. Alright, so maybe spooky isn’t quite the right word, but we hope our Android ghosts, bats & vampire can spread a little Halloween spirit.

Three Android Games You Might Want To Download

Every day there are more games on the Android market and it can be hard to keep up with all of them. A lot of games are still junk, but we are starting to see more quality titles since paid applications were released. Quite a few games are priced as low as a dollar and I like that price point. I’m willing to start paying more as the quality increases. It took awhile for the triple A titles to make their way to iPhone, but we are seeing those same developers port their games to Android. Hopefully as we get closer to 2012 that will change.

Can you escape the room?

Mystique. Chapter 1: Foetus

Developer: Bendroid
Price: Free for a limited time

Download it for: Innovating control and 3d graphics. Only first person game I have seen.

Looking forward to: Once you beat the game, there is no replay value. Bendroid should create a time trial mode so you can compete against your best time. The tone of the game was spooky, but it could be improved with scripted vibrations. I can’t wait for Chapter 2 and I hope they keep the series going. I see a lot of potential in Bendroid.

Download it for: Fun word game that keeps improving. The developer has released several updates that all included new features. I like games that get updated.

Looking forward to: I want different game modes from the one available. Release notes say mutilplayer and high scores are coming soon. I would also like to see sound effects added. You could do some really awesome two player modes using a single phone. I’d like to see a version where the blocks change as well. Time challenge mode along with high scores will really increase the replay value.

Really wish it was 3d

Tower Bloxx

Developer: Digital Chocolate
Price: $5.99 or Free Demo

Download it for: Unique twitch gameplay with added sim options. Lots of replay value with increasing difficulty. Fun building your own city.

Looking forward to: Improved Graphics. I’ve seen videos of the iPhone version and it looks ten times better. If my G1 can run Quake at 30fps I expect to see more. Price is a little steep as well. One of the most expensive games after Guitar Hero.
