Though it’s best to try and not make judgements based on device preference, we cannot help but see certain stereotypes pop up. The Android vs iOS war does not only involve phones, apps, UIs and technology; we’ve also seen people mention stereotypes dealing with income, personality, social status and many other factors attached to a certain mobile OS/brand.

We love infographics about these topics, and today we have a very fun one to show you. Hunch has conducted a survey that involved 15,818 users, and the results are quite interesting. This study covers many areas of life, such as personality, life experiences, food & drink and media. So, let’s take a look.

According to these statistics, Android users seem to be much more likely to live in the country, while iOS users tend to be city dwellers. It also seems like iOS users do tend to have a higher income. According to this infographic, iOS users are 67% more likely to earn $200k per year or above, while Android users are 24% more likely to earn $50-$100k per year (middle class). Oh, and it also seems Android users are 80% more likely to have only graduated high school and not college. Come on, guys! Get your study on!

Other interesting sections include the fact that Android users travel less, and are mostly PC users. iOS users tend to travel much more and are mostly Mac users. But, what about the phone? When it comes to technology, it seems Android users are more likely to prefer an ugly-looking, but full-featured device. iOS users actually seem to brag excessively about how good-looking Apple products are, and this infographic supports that fact. It seems iOS users are 122% more likely to prefer a sleek and good-looking device that will do less things.

Apparently most of us only have one email address too, and it tends to be a Yahoo account. Somehow that doesn’t add up, since I’m pretty sure the majority of us Android users have at least one Gmail account. We may have other accounts (Google or not), but are we really more likely to use Yahoo?

These are just a few examples of what Hunch’s infographic covers. There’s much more in there — music, movies, books, foods, drinks, fashion. Even a small section dedicated to Windows, Palm and Blackberry devices. Check it out, and let us know what else you think is interesting about the provided data.

Android continues its strong growth in both North America and Europe.

Admob has released their August report and included a feature on how the share of operating systems has changed in the last six months. I normally break down the detailed results and compare them month to month, but I’m tired of Admob changing the colors in their chart legend.

The six month comparison shows exactly what we expected. Android continues to grow while Symbian, Rim, and Windows see declines. The iPhone is up during the last 6 months, but it peaked on the Admob reports back in May. The all time high for iPhone was 50% in May and it has declined four months in a row to 40% in August.

Android should see accelerated growth this holiday season.

Android remained at 7% worldwide share in the August report, but Admob says ad requests from Android devices grew 17% month over month. The HTC Magic (myTouch 3G) is a Top 10 smartphone in both North America and Western Europe.

There is no denying that iPhone rules the smartphone world of today. Apple just sold 5.2 million iPhones last quarter, a 626 percent increase from the previous Q2. The iPhone OS accounts for 47 percent of smartphone request according to AdMob. Apple also claims 32 percent of the handset industry operating profits. The numbers are impressive, but how long can iPhone remain at the top?

We could argue for hours on all sorts of different metrics, but I think the most important leading indicator is developers. Apple owes much of its iPhone success to the App Store and the community that sprung up around it. Everyone has seen the massive “There’s an app for that” campaign. Recent numbers suggest there are 65,000 apps that have been downloaded over 1.5 billion times.

With all the success that iPhone has enjoyed, would you believe we might be past their tipping point? Check out the following stats provided in a Flurry analytics report from July.

I think we know where this is going.

The chart compares the number of new projects (apps) that are being developed for iPhone and Android. Since the beginning of the year, Android has more than double its share while iPhone has declined each month. As time goes on, more developers are choosing to bring their apps to Android and I see no sign of this stopping. With every major US carrier ready to jump on the Android bandwagon, we are likely to see this trend accelerate.

With all the recent news, is it really that surprising some devs are ready to bail on the iPhone? No one understands the App Store approval process. The FCC is investigating Apple’s rejection of Google Voice. Loyal customers are unhappy. Even Palm has filed a dispute against Apple for blocking the Pre from iTunes.

If you want to know where iPhone is headed, just talk to their developers and they will tell you. The bloom is off the rose.

AdMob released their mobile metrics report for June and Android usage continues to grow. Request from the Android operating system grew 25% month over month. This now gives Android a 5% worldwide OS share and marks the first time they have pulled ahead of Windows Mobile.

Android passes Windows Mobile for the first time.

When you narrow the reporting to only the US, Android has an even larger share of the smartphone market. In the states, Android has grown to a 9% share and closing in on Blackberry who enjoys a 14% share. With the wave of new Android devices coming this holidays, I expect Android to surpass Blackberry by the end of the year.

Also noted in the report is the share of requests by operator and manufacturer. Nearly half of the requests from T-Mobile are with HTC. This tells me the G1 has been a huge success for T-Mobile and finally given them a product to promote their expanding 3G network. The pending launch of the myTouch 3G should only increase HTC’s share of smartphone traffic with T-Mobile.

In the United Kingdom, Android requests are now at 7% which is more than Windows Mobile and Blackberry combined. These numbers match the traffic on my site and show that the UK is the second biggest country to support Android. I expect these numbers to grow as well with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy and HTC Hero.

To get the full report, head over to the Admob Mobile Metrics site.
