Every major US carrier is celebrating the holidays in its own way, but T-Mobile seems to be the most festive. There are white phones and good deals coming up from all other carriers, but T-Mobile has decided to make things a bit more exciting. Aside from wishing us a happy holiday, with their new commercials “Home for the Holidays” and “4G Wonderland,” they are also holding a fun “Find the Elf” game for those who want to earn a $1000 prize and a Samsung Galaxy S II with a full year of service.

The idea is that this Elf will be going from store to store during the holidays, where you will have to be the first one to find him. It is pretty much a scavenger hunt. In order to win, one must find the elf at one of the many participating T-Mobile stores in the country.

T-Mobile will send out tweets, giving you clues of where the elf happens to be at the moment. If you want to get these clues, simply follow @TMobile, and you can start hunting this little guy down. If you decipher the clues right, just head to the T-Mobile store where you believe this elf is located, and be the first to find him. After that, simply send @TMobile a tweet saying you have found the elf, and the goodies are yours!

Great musicals, good deals, and amazing prizes – Not a bad way to celebrate with your customers, T-Mobile! Take a look at the Find the Elf video below, and check out the official site for more details. After you are all set to start the scavenger hunt, sit back, relax and watch Carly and all the other girls in magenta.

What do you say? Are you guys participating? It might be worth the try!

Since that time, the account has been tweeting about 21 different locations where Droid X phones are hidden across the country.

The clues are starting to become more specific and we have identified several of the cities. The contest details were previously a mystery, but Verizon just posted the official contest rules. Hints will continue to be released over the coming week that will guide you towards a hidden certificate that will grant you a free Droid X.

Traces will continue to be tweeted until the final clue is release which will contain the GPS location for each Certificate. We have an unfinished list of the 21 locations after the jump, so help us fill it in if you discover one of the cities.

Social networking has evolved over the past several months from primarily internet-based status updates and URL sharing into a more mobile, check-in based service where users are now sharing more about themselves and their lives than ever before. Services such as Foursquare, Gowalla, and others are now allowing users to share where they are and what they are doing in real-time with their friends and the rest of the world.

I’m willing to bet that you have never heard of SCVNGR, and I myself did not learn of this service until just this morning when their mobile app was released onto the Android community.

SCVNGR hopes to take the check-in evolution and kick it up a notch. In addition to including a standard check-in service, the folks over at SCVNGR have attempted to develope a world-wide scavenger hunt with fun challenges awaiting you wherever you happen to go.

Imagine going into your favorite burrito shop, firing up the SCVNGR app to check-in, and being offered the challenge of turning the tin-foil wrapper into an origami sculpture for four bonus points. Or going to a local zoo and being challenged to answer some crazy riddle to receive a free gorilla suit? Okay, so that last one was a little bit off the wall and totally made up, but that’s the beauty of SCVNGR. All the challenges are either user-created/inspired, or created by the businesses themselves.

SCVNGR offers a refreshing and novel take on the traditional check-in services. With the added ability to complete fun little challenges at all of your favorite locations, I think SCVNGR has the ability to really take off, and is a fun new way to interact with your environment.

Over 550 business are currently paying customers of SCVNGR including museums, universities, and businesses, who use it for things like tours, orientations, and team-building exercises.

Not into scavenger hunts? SCVNGR has more traditional check-ins, as well as the ability to snap and post pictures, and write a quick little blurb about the location. There really is something for everyone. That being said, SCVNGR will depend on users like you to take this service and add fun new challenges, so go and check it out today.

SCVNGR can be found for free on the Android Market. Some users are reporting that SCVNGR is not available on Android 1.6 or below, so for now I will say it’s only available on Android 2.0+.

If you’re attending Google I/O this year, you’ll get to try out the mobile game at the conference.

We are long overdue on hosting a new contest, so what better time than Thanksgiving? Our loyal readers are awesome and we want to show how much we appreciate you.

We will be hosting a special Thanksgiveawy Scavenger Hunt. We’ve made a list of 10 items we want you to find and photo. Some items we will pick the first user to submit a picture. Other items, we will select the best picture for the day.

The contest rules are simple:

Snap a photo of the scavenger hunt item with your Android phone.

Upload the photo and post it to Twitter.

Add the hash tag for your item.

Users can submit pictures using any Twitter photo service (Twitpic, YFrog, Twitgoo, Posterous, etc).

Don’t have a Twitter account yet? Sign up and follow @androidandme. There are dozens of Twitter apps for Android and our favorite is Twidroid. Other popular Twitter clients include Seesmic, Swift, and TwitterRide.

Prizes

Our contest is being sponsored by our new Android and Me Store. We will be giving away 10x $25 gift certificates (one for each scavenger hunt item).

We currently ship to North America, Europe, Australia, and Japan. I’m not sure if all those countries actually celebrate Thanksgiving, but you all are welcome to try and participate in the scavenger hunt.
