We hope you all are taking some time with family eating lots of good food, playing games, and watching a little football. While giving thanks for all the good things in your life, be sure to be mindful of those Android apps that you enjoy or that make your lives easier in some way.

On this day of thanks, I wanted to share with you five applications that I’m thankful for. But it’s not all about me, we want to hear from all of you as well. Be sure to leave a comment on this story with those applications that you’re thankful for this holiday season.

QuickOffice HD/Pro

I’ve tried several of the office-suite applications out there, but I keep coming back to QuickOffice on both my Android phone and tablet. I haven’t found anything out there that matches both the beauty and functionality of QuickOffice. We tweeted out a little bit ago when Amazon was offering this software for free, so hopefully all of you managed to download it then. If not, the suite will set you back $7.99 for the phone version, and $11.99 for the tablet version.

Wind Up Knight

Wind up knight came out of nowhere to become perhaps my favorite casual game on Android. Basically, you control a wind-up toy esque knight as you jump and slash your way through several levels, collecting coins and keys along the way. You can unlock new swords and other things to help you on your journey.

Pandora

Whether I’m going for a run, hanging out at home, or driving to work, I like having music going to distract me. I’ve tried out several of the streaming-based music services out there, and while the likes of Google Music and Amazon MP3 store are good for listening to your music that you already own, and purchasing music you don’t already own, there’s something to be said for listening to music from a massive collection. When it comes to these types of music apps, I’ve always come back to Pandora, and have even sprung for a Pandora One membership. It is the best, in my opinion (remember, it’s an opinion, you probably have a different one, but this is my list!).

Android Photobooth

Yes, this one may show a bit of bias; the Photobooth application was put together by Android and Me founder Clark Wimberly and resident Android Programmer Justin Shapcott. Still, since it was released, it has become the standard way I share my photos with others. Photobooth allows you to either take existing pictures or snap new ones and put them together into a traditional photobooth-like picture. You can easily share with the likes of Google+, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, or basically any other service you can imagine.

Skitch

Skitch is a drawing application that allows you to use your Android smartphone or tablet to free-draw or take quick notes that can be saved or shared with others. I actually do this pretty frequently on my Android tablet, whether I’m coming up with a quick idea for a post image, or drawing out some concept I’m having trouble explaining with words.

Skitch
Evernote Corp.
MARKET
QR

Final Thoughts

I’ve shown you mine, now show me yours! Leave a comment below with the applications that you’re thankful for and why you’re thankful for them. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

After all the hype and speculation we’ve been hearing, the device was finally announced last month. Now that we’ve seen a bit of what the first Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone will be, the next step (and the hardest) is to wait for it to be released.

Well, guys, it seems like we’ll have to wait a bit longer than we expected. It was bad enough to hear that the Galaxy Nexus would not be hitting shelves come November 10 alongside the DROID RAZR and Rezound. Then we heard it wouldn’t be until after November 17. Now the Galaxy Nexus is not expected to be released until after Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving).

Our good friends at Droid-Life have their hands on a nifty chart from Big Red, which displays Verizon’s release plans for its latest devices. This chart clearly states that the Galaxy Nexus will not be released until after Black Friday. You’ll have to look elsewhere for Black Friday savings.

As for us Android fans, we’ll save our bucks and wait some more…

We are long overdue on hosting a new contest, so what better time than Thanksgiving? Our loyal readers are awesome and we want to show how much we appreciate you.

We will be hosting a special Thanksgiveawy Scavenger Hunt. We’ve made a list of 10 items we want you to find and photo. Some items we will pick the first user to submit a picture. Other items, we will select the best picture for the day.

The contest rules are simple:

Snap a photo of the scavenger hunt item with your Android phone.

Upload the photo and post it to Twitter.

Add the hash tag for your item.

Users can submit pictures using any Twitter photo service (Twitpic, YFrog, Twitgoo, Posterous, etc).

Don’t have a Twitter account yet? Sign up and follow @androidandme. There are dozens of Twitter apps for Android and our favorite is Twidroid. Other popular Twitter clients include Seesmic, Swift, and TwitterRide.

Prizes

Our contest is being sponsored by our new Android and Me Store. We will be giving away 10x $25 gift certificates (one for each scavenger hunt item).

Eligilbility

The contest is open to residents from any country our store ships to. We currently ship to North America, Europe, Australia, and Japan. I’m not sure if all those countries actually celebrate Thanksgiving, but you all are welcome to try and participate in the scavenger hunt.
