So I’ve just finished working 5am to 9pm at my store, and I am delerious. I will go home and fall on the floor and sleep there in my clothes next to the dog. However, before that happens, I thought I would update you all on the final tally for phone sales in my store today:

Galaxy S 3: 5 units

Other Android devices: 4 units

Dumbphones: A couple. (Lost count.)

People asking about the iPhone or interested in buying one: ZERO.

You have all heard by now that the GS3 just unseated the iPhone as the best selling smartphone in Q3 of this year. I am hear to tell you that Black Friday, and the holiday shopping season in general, belong to Samsung and Android.

ONWARD, ROBOT SOLDIERS!!!

I think the huge sales may have had somewhat to do with that too. I have seen a lot of people with a sgs3 compared to how it used to be mostly iphones but with the huge sales they had with the sgs3 I can see why people would want them over an iphone. It is a great phone and the type of phone that android and samsung needed so that with the s4 and others they can bring it to every carrier untouched again. Great to see 1 phone really going toe to toe with iphone in terms of sales.

The thing is, I think the overwhelming majority of iPhone buyers go straight to an Apple store to purchase their iPhones. I begrudgingly let my wife switch back to an iPhone and spent two hours in one of those godforsaken stores this week!

Well that’s only one side of the coin, god who knows what android:iphone ratio is present in other stores.

Im assuming that you are in a small local store. So obviously Android has the cheapest and widest selection of phones, so people will go for that. But if you are in a high quality(well known) store, Maybe, the A:i ratio may change.

Just my 2 cents of idea.

I bring this up because ordinarily we get a ton of people asking about iphones, but this year we get people asking about the gs3 instead. We’ve even had a couple of people trade in their iphone 5 for bit! It’s a big change from what we’ve seen in the past.
