CM10 pre-releases popping up!

Lovin' me some Jelly Beans!

This morning, Mr. Steve Kondik himself posted some CM10 previews! They are pre-release quality software and probably have some major bugs in them but this shows where CM10 is at this point. However, they appear to be daily-driver-worthy. I’ve yet to see any obvious problems.

Cyanogen says that these releases are missing Butter but frankly, they’re just as smooth as stock software for me. If you follow the below-posted directions, you’ll end up with a ROM that’s a mix of AOSP and CyanogenMod ROM. By this, there are clearly hints of Cyanogenmod (Apollo, CM stat reporting, non-AOSP launcher, etc.) but there are obvious omissions as well (no advanced settings/toggles/etc. at all). And yes, Google Now is there once you flash Gapps.

*** NOTE: If you flash this software, you risk your phone becoming a brick, you will void your warranty, and your phone will become possessed overnight while you sleep and suck your blood. You have been warned!

If you have a Galaxy S III on AT&T, T-Mobile, or Sprint, hop on over to this RootzWiki thread to learn more.

any real plus to running this over the AOSP?

I don’t understand your question? You can either run CM or AOSP. What are you referring to?

Well CM says most of the rom is stock AOSP with very few CM features… So what is the benefit of running this over a stable AOSP?

The bonus for me is that I have no AOSP ROM to run. Unless an AOSP Jelly Bean ROM has snuck through and I missed it, this is my only JB option.

I have been running this since the 11th with no issues. Everything works. I am assuming you have a Verizon GNex based on your Verizon and Samsung picks in your profile.

T-Mobile Galaxy SIII. See the last line of the article – these CM10s are all for Galaxy S III devices, none of which have any AOSP Jelly Bean options that I’m aware of (except maybe int’l).

Thanks for reminding me to update my profile, though! :-)

It all makes sense now :) Enjoy the S3…. I have a few friends with them, they upgraded from the S1, but not sure if it is really that big of a jump from the S2. Unless of course you got an LTE version…
