Does Facebook’s Android App really bug you that much?

Honestly, it doesn’t bug me that much. My daily driver for Android is my Acer A700, a 10″ tab, so it doesn’t look THAT great to begin with… So much so that I just use the web version anyway, and while that’s not the quickest loading site it works for me.

Plenty of you guys use it on the 7″ form or phones – does the Android app work okay for you? Especially since the recent upgrade?

Works so much better now. Not that I particularly care about Facebook.

I don’t use it that often but noticed it updated recently and is much improved, there are several noticeable updates. The best thing I noticed is that when scrolling through your newsfeed, if someone posted an album of pictures, you can scoll through the album pics right there on your newsfeed, its pretty cool. I think pictures open faster too. My experience is on a 4.3″ phone, not a tablet.

its fine so far, could not notice the speed improvements on the new native app though…:\

It’s much better than it was before. I do notice that sometimes pictures still take a bit to load, but still it’s so much better than prior to the most recent update.

It’s gotten better. It’s easier to use on my Nexus 7 tablet than my Droid Razr phone. There are some things I’ve found hard to do, and copy/paste seems hugely awkward. Photo rendering can be slow at times, though that may be only at work where there are some network controls in place on certain traffic. For quickly perusing what’s been happening recently, it’s fine. If I have serious Facebook work to do (don’t laugh – I’ve won some contests I’ve entered, and I do some social media “presence” for an organization I volunteer with), it’s easier to do on a “real” computer.

It works a lot better than it use to. I switched to the web version earlier this year because I was tired of the lag and it chewing memory in the background. I recently moved back to the app and it seems a lot more fluid than it use to. It still sucks battery if I let it it run in the background though, gotta love hold back to kill.

It has it’s quirks. I really don’t mind it that much, but it would be nice if it would sync profile pictures to android’s contacts like it used to. I know there is a longer explanation why this no longer happens, I just wish it was brought back. Also, it tends to crash when scrolling down too much

I can’t stand facebook on my lappy, would never use it on the tab nor cell. NEVER

This new update is honestly the first time that an update to the app has brought a much better user experience with it. Before the updates would make it bloated and slow, now we are approaching the quality of the app in iOS. Apparently Mark Zukerburg got pissed at his devs for Android having a inferior app to iOS and forced them to use an Android phone so they would see how horrible the app was and fix it. Seems like it worked Mark!

I am not too big on Facebook, but it was awfully slow! Having said that, the most recent update seems to have made it much faster. At least it’s usable now.

  • ndub21

In think the app is tollerable now. Before the recent update it was horrid. I never used Facebook because of how incredibly bad their app was.

  • pmrich

I can’t seem to navigate with it as well as the web page

  • TheStig

    Heaps better since the update!!

  • gh0st665

Better since the update, definitely better than Friendcaster. Has been a little buggy lately with network issues.

  • redraider133

The recent upgrade is 100x better than what it used to be. The app now is very usable and so much more smooth than it was before.

  • deegan87

It seems to get better with every release, which you’d expect.

  • sonicdeathmunky

I had stopped using Facebook on my phone, it was that bad. Trying to access comments on a photo would never ever work, and it was just generally super slow.

New FB app works great though, so I’m a happy camper :)

  • Randy White

I could care less about Facebook.

  • Charlong666

It used to bother me a lot, but the newest upgrade definitely made the speed a lot better. I still wish it followed the Android design guidelines though.

Oh, if only I didn’t have to dream in colour haha.

  • OutofPlace

I gave up on the Facebook app a while back. It was so slow, awkward and buggy, so I switched to Friendcaster. It’s not the most elegant FB app, but it seems pretty reliable.

I have to say, though, that after hearing some good things about the FB app I’m interested in giving it a second chance.

  • KingCrow02

It is faster than the older version but the only bug I have with the app is that it doesn’t stay on the News feed and refreshes the newest posts

  • Ezy03

    not since the update!

  • raovallab

Have you used the new Google + Android App ? What do you think ?

  • BrotherBloat

it’s annoying that it doesn’t capture facebook links from GMail notifications… fail…

  • Stig03

    Not since the update!
