Does Google needs better marketing on TV

Morning Shows love of Apple

I don’t know about you guys but I get a little annoyed every morning when I watch either NBC’s Today Show or ABC’s Good Morning America and they talk about the Ipad or Iphone as if it is the only smartphone available to buy. NBC seems to be the worst only showing those products as the best buys for anyone during the holiday shopping season.

Because of this it got me thinking that Google and companies making phone/tablets with Android need to be doing a better job of getting their products out. I am not sure why a company just doesn’t furnish the hosts with their own handsets to use while on the air. Does anyone else have any similar complaints or ideas.

Yes, But I have seen a significant rise of Google Nexus ads on YouTube videos as well as TV and even in movie theaters.

In addition to that they need to make their Nexus devices more easily available at local stores. I read somewhere that the Nexus 7 will be available at Best Buy in January 2013…..????
Why this was available to Staples before it was available at one of the biggest electronics retailers in the country is a mystery to me, though I have a feeling it might have something to do with iPads having their own sections at Best Buy.

They also need to make much MUCH more stock of their new devices, especially the Nexus 4 which was has officially been labelled as sold out.

Yeah I agree with you on all points. I probably need to go to the movies more b/c I haven’t seen a Nexus commercial. I know once I do it will be exciting to see on a really huge screen.

My only thought is that no one thought the pure google experience would ever do well. Instead the Nexus 7 is selling great and the Nexus 4 is always out of stock which is somewhat good news. So I think the 2013 year will be good to google as lots of retailers will want to have a significant amount of inventory.

Here in Oz, their hasn’t been much mainstream advertising on television. Now that the Nexus 7 is widely available across retail stores, catalogues have started to feature it, but no massive huge promotions.

However, with the recent release of the Nexus 4 & 10m the main issue is supply has been extremely limited. Since the initial release it’s been sold out with no indication of when the next batch of stock will be available.

The lack of communications to potential customers has most likely hurt the overall public view of the Nexus products. From the small sample of acquaintances/friends (non-techy) in this circumstance, they have given up and purchased other competing devices.

This is something Google will need to manage a lot better next time if the Nexus range is to be a key product for the masses. Then again Australia is a small market relative to North America and Europe.
