Favorite camera effects app?

As Instagram looms, I think it’s time to talk camera apps. There are dozens of awesome camera apps available and sometimes I have trouble keeping track, so hopefully this thread will help.

Lately I’ve been using Camera360 Ultimate. It has a bunch of effects and they are all really granular (after you pick retro, you can pick from 10 slightly different levels/hues/etc). The interface is also pretty decent, allowing for quick sharing right to Flickr, my host of choice. Another awesome thing Camera360 does is save the original, un-filtered photo alongside the fancygram version.

What is your favorite camera app? Why?

I was using Magic Hour for a bit but I got tired of the square-only crop options.

To be honest, I have never really used any third-party camera applications. My wife swears that Camera ZOOM FX is the best thing in the world, but she’s also excited for Instagram to come to Android.

I think Pixlr-o-matic tops Camera360 in about every way possible.

I’ve always skipped Pixlr because of how cheap it looks. The icon and screens scare me away and none of the example photos look good.

I like Camera360 because it has a lot of really subtle effects. I almost never want a silly border or ridiculous light bleed, just tiny shifts in tone/hue.

I’ve been using Camera Zoom FX, but it runs SO SLOWLY on my phone that I’m excited for a new option in Instagram. I use it on my wife’s phone on occasion and enjoy the simplicity and the social factor.

Ok, another contender has recently made it’s way onto my homescreen, EyeEm.

Other than it’s stupid name, this app pretty much rules. The filters could still use some work, but the ease to post and the network they’ve built is really damn cool. It sort of works like Color (before the reimagining) and makes these spontaneous galleries of shared photos. Just snapping pictures will bring up other photos from the same store or concert.

Camera Zoom FX, Magic Hour and Pudding Camera are my favorites.

Vignette is hands down (in my opinion) one of the best out there — the best $4 I have spent on an app in a while.

The amount of filters in this app blows me away and there is always something new to try and customize. I’ve tried others but I always find myself going back to this one. I am blown away by wat some of the effects can achieve.

Camera Zoom FX has been my fave. Once you purchase from Play Store, plenty of FREE Add-on(s) to this application. Depending on what you’re interested, it’s a bang for your buck. It has a simple UI and sometimes, simplicity goes a long way.
