Goolge Play Store Debacle

Did anyone else have a bad experience while trying to order from the play store this morning?

I tried to order my Nexus 4 16gb as soon as they went live. My order failed and told me I had not been changed and to try again. So I tried again, and again, and again. I tried about 8 times before it appeared the 16gb model was out of stock.
I was pissed but decided to just order the 8gb one and sell it and upgrade if I started to run out of space.

A couple of hours later I check my Play Store orders and to my surprise, I have 1 8gb and 4 16gb listed as purchased! I called Google right away to cancel 4 of them and keep one 16gb order. They tell me they can’t but I can from the web. So I cancel the orders from the web only to get an email saying it’s too late to cancel.

So, now I have $1902 that’s going to hit my credit card in the next few days. The credit card I put it on purposely only has a $800 credit limit on it for online ordering protection so I assume only two of the transactions will go through before the limit is reached.

While this isn’t the end of the world for me, (I’ll sell any extra nexi that show up on eBay and make a profit) I’m afraid this same issue might have crippled others bank accounts if they didn’t use a credit card separate from their checking account.

I should also note that I don’t want to dispute the charges with my credit card company because more than likely they won’t understand what I’m talking about and will cancel all payments from Google rather than letting one of the 16gb nexus 4 transactions go through.

I called Google Play and logged a “suggestion” with them to change both the cancel policy and the error the Play Store gives telling customers the transaction failled and to try placing the order again when in fact the order was placed.

I’m curious if anyone else had any similar issues with ordering a Nexus device this morning?

At least you were able to purchase one. I tried for HOURS and couldn’t buy one. I was able to add to the cart but it kept disappearing. Google screwed up big time. And to boot, I never received the notification I signed up for. Seriously pissed right now…

Now they are sold out I’m sure you’ll make a nice profit. If you end up with all five extra, you may even fine you end up with a free nexus.

One of my orders looked like it didn’t go through. Then the phone was sold out. I ordered the tablet only. But I got confirmation email for both the first order (phone + tablet) and the tablet only. I canceled the tablet without any problems. It doesn’t look like I was charged.

It’s so sad that LG and Google still can’t get their shit together after 3 months later. Are they still charging you for “express shipping”? Personally I would wait and see what Samsung, HTC (reviews start coming out for the One) and Motorola comes up with. Chances are, you’re not going to get your hands on a N4 in the next month or so either.
