Did anyone else have a bad experience while trying to order from the play store this morning?
I tried to order my Nexus 4 16gb as soon as they went live. My order failed and told me I had not been changed and to try again. So I tried again, and again, and again. I tried about 8 times before it appeared the 16gb model was out of stock.
I was pissed but decided to just order the 8gb one and sell it and upgrade if I started to run out of space.
A couple of hours later I check my Play Store orders and to my surprise, I have 1 8gb and 4 16gb listed as purchased! I called Google right away to cancel 4 of them and keep one 16gb order. They tell me they can’t but I can from the web. So I cancel the orders from the web only to get an email saying it’s too late to cancel.
So, now I have $1902 that’s going to hit my credit card in the next few days. The credit card I put it on purposely only has a $800 credit limit on it for online ordering protection so I assume only two of the transactions will go through before the limit is reached.
While this isn’t the end of the world for me, (I’ll sell any extra nexi that show up on eBay and make a profit) I’m afraid this same issue might have crippled others bank accounts if they didn’t use a credit card separate from their checking account.
I should also note that I don’t want to dispute the charges with my credit card company because more than likely they won’t understand what I’m talking about and will cancel all payments from Google rather than letting one of the 16gb nexus 4 transactions go through.
I called Google Play and logged a “suggestion” with them to change both the cancel policy and the error the Play Store gives telling customers the transaction failled and to try placing the order again when in fact the order was placed.
I’m curious if anyone else had any similar issues with ordering a Nexus device this morning?
