http://www.droid-life.com/2013/01/21/wild-rumor-motorola-x-phone-to-multiple-carriers-sold-cheaply-in-google-play-and-unlockable-on-verizon/ So i saw this interesting article about the X phone and was wondering who in their right mind would pay verizon $15 a month while being locked into a contract when you could just buy it right from google without a contract. Any thoughts? Hopefully this turns out to be true and google offers it for $350 without a contract, even though they say it isn’t a nexus, still looks like the best option those of us on verizon will have.

I just saw a post like this on phandroid.com and this even this is a rumor it seems like Google is giving its self some edge.. But 15 a month is a crazy idea either way.. especially with the option to buy it straight from El Goog…

I have no clue why anyone would be it unlockable on Verizon. It just doesn’t make any sense.

We really need editable comments or i guess I need to spend more time proofreading lol

I agree especially with it being $300 on contract I’d rather spend 50-100 more and get it without a contract and Without the $15 a month fee.

Agreed. I feel as though Verizon just wants to suck every penny out of its customers. That’s the only plausible reason why they would make it like that.

Exactly. I mean really $15 a month to unlock the boot loader? I could see a one time $15 charge but having it each month is ridiculous and something Verizon is probably doing to allow the phone to be on their network sadly.

If it’s a 2 year contract which I would assume, that means that in the end the customer would have spent some $360 just to unlock it. Talk about ripping of customers with a straight face. In the end, it would to be more beneficial to buy it from the Google Play Store and save a lot of money. I guess when you have a monopoly on the market along with AT&T, you can do what ever you please to srew over customers.

The big guys want more and more money and they continue to devise new ways to do it.

I wouldnt put it past Verizon… and 15 a month is not worth the trouble at all

I agree, especially when you can get it unlocked for free by buying it through the play store.
