New years resolution!

Posted Dec 20, 2012 at 12:24 am in Threads > Opinions

Not going to lie, one of my new years resolutions for next year is to be more active on this site. I will not miss out on a chance to win a Nexus device again!!!

All kidding aside, I have realized I lurk far too often in a community where I learn so much. Most of it comes from laziness. I mostly browse from Pulse and it takes some effort to switch over and log in. I normally will have more than a few cents to add to the convo, but just move on.

No longer.

mine is to win somthing lol a person can’t have this crap of luck

    • Fiasko

Hey best of luck, at my office Christmas party they gave away a few Android tablets. Most of they people just thought they were iPads and didn’t understand. Best thing about people winning things from this site is at least they love Android!

  • LooNerd

I’m new and wish I had made this resolution last year these are done great giveaways!

  • tanman888

Stop impulse buying on tech gadgetry! and buy the things I really need.
With mobile devices advancing at such a rapid rate, I realised I don’t utilise any of these items as much as I should.

    • Fiasko

I could probably agree with this (besides my phone of course). A tablet isn’t something I actually need, it is just something I WANT.

Santa asks what do you want little boy? Not what do you need lol

With purchases like that, I always get the feeling of buyer’s remorse. Maybe there’s a brain chemical high that is set off from the act of buying.

        • Fiasko

I’m with you on that one. I go to the store 3 or 4 times just to touch something expensive before I buy it. I think I may finally grab a tablet to use as an e-reader. Taking online courses with digital books and it finally bumps it more the the “need” category.

At least I can tell myself that

My New Years resolution will be to get in even better shape. I lost 70ish lbs from last January going down from 210 to 141.

Now to get rid of the last little flab and getting more cut. Haha.

    • Fiasko

Just wanted to say congrats man, that is a life changer!

  • pol biswas

My new year resolution will be doing some good deed for others and gain knowledge and make myself more strong.

  • LadyDi

I want to be the independent and self sufficient woman I was prior to 2008 or so. I miss that so much. It’s time to get serious and take my life back into MY control!!

  • sonicdeathmunky

I agree! I’m a serial forum lurker, but this competition has convinced me to get active and I’m really enjoying it! Great idea Android&Me :D

    • Fiasko

Hey, I am only taking half of the fault. Pulse makes it so easy to view all the news I want to see, but there is no easy way to comment unless I open the article in browser mode. I read Android and Me every day, I just never leave Pulse.

  • MagikalTrev

Keep focused on my dreams and read more while doing experiments like reading while I walk or changing diets to test cognitive differences. Don’t be so judging, inspire people to learn, and keep active in communities irl and online. Mostly these are just maintaining, but very important to keep on track.

  • MacCrookPro

lurker since I found this site like 3-4 years ago. I barely signed during last years contest run, if i would have only known.

    • Fiasko

100% in the same boat, have an up vote!

  • Nicko01

          • Fiasko

Was really scared you were going to keep going lol

  • MJM128

I’m doing a little tax project. I’m going to keep track of all taxes that the government gets from me in a google spreadsheet doc and see what my actually rate is.

    • WlfHart

Haha, good luck with that one! A lot of various taxes to keep track of. And don’t forget to calculate the rates from your gross earning, not your net earnings.

  • WlfHart

Tech related… I hope to finally acquire (purchase, unless I luck out and win one) an Android tablet to replace the iPad2 my work supplied me and use it more in my classes. Right now I only use my tablet for administrative tasks instead of utilizing it when teaching.

Non tech related… go on a cruise (never been), spend more time with friends and family (been very antisocial these last three years while getting my BS in mathematics and teaching credential), and get back in shape (cliche I know, but I haven’t done more than hike a few miles once every couple of weeks for three years…)

    • Fiasko

I am in the same boat as you. If I don’t win one, I will be buying a Nexus 7.

  • spidremann

My resolution is to stop buying tech as soon as it comes out, but rather wait until most of the bugs get worked out. My biggest gripe with android is the constant buyer’s remorse.

  • lou2cool88

My resolution is to control my urge to buy every new phone that comes out and actually wait out my two-year contract. I always steal the available upgrades from my family members on our shared plan so I need to control myself.

  • LadyDi

I just upvoted all of you for having New Year’s Resolutions in mind. Hope you keep them.

  • thymeless

Mine is to master my Galaxy nexus and make it an integral supportive part of my lifestyle without ruling it or taking up my time on fluff with it.

  • bear831

Mine is to learn to program, I am familiar with HTML and CSS but looking over Java, it is a completely different beast.
