Ubuntu mobile phone, who’s interested?

While going through my RRS feed list I came across this video

I must say this looks promising. Although for me it wouldn’t be my main phone, initial impressions are good.

I wonder if I can get this on my Galaxy Nexus?
Dual Boot anyone????

The options that they have chosen for the interface interest me the most in the articles I’ve read so far.
Thumbing in from the edges to get different menus and the way that they have made it all centered around your most recent items looks interesting to me.

I’m kind of interested in it, but not sure yet if a full linux os on a phone is what I would want

I think the only way they’re going to make a splash is by creating a cohesive phone/desktop ecosystem. I feel like the next iteration in mobile computing is to make a smartphone powerful enough to sit on my desk, mirror to a monitor, and make a seamless transition from mobile to desktop computing. Whoever can accomplish that is going to make a killing.

I am intrigued by the concept, but I am not sure on the delivery. It seems they are targeting current Android devices more than having it available in wide release from a major carrier on independent hardware. It seems this is nothing more than another ROM to play with at this point that takes away the Play Store capabilities. Unless they get to the point that developers are flocking to the OS, I can’t see this gaining much traction without a large selection of apps designed for the touch interface.

      I agree
Does look good as a possible launcher in it’s current state.

It looks promising. In the video it looked to lag a little at times. I am sure they are working on that. I really like their take on many of the design and functionality. Like several have said thumbing from the sides for menus is a great idea.

Plus having the full OS on board is great. I am hoping they can bet a handset maker onboard. Sounds like there are some who are interested lets how they take a chance.
