Unlocked Galaxy Nexus vs Galaxy S II

WalMart is going to start selling the Galaxy S II for $300 with a “no annual contract” plan. $50 less than the unlocked Galaxy Nexus sold on the Google Play store. What do you think, is the $50 worth it for the Nexus, or is the S II the better deal?

I love my Nexus, and would gladly spend at least $50 more for vanilla Android. But I’m sure there’s some people who would never know the difference, and would rather save the $50.

I’d go with nexus. More development and guaranteed to get updates plus a little better specs than the sgs2.

Galaxy Nexus all the way…best phone I’ve ever had no question…

Agreed – I picked up a Galaxy Nexus and now my Skyrocket stays at home. I haven’t 2nd guessed my decision since. HUGE developer support for the Nexus + guaranteed updates, and very over-clockable. I personally get better battery life than my Skyrocket too (due to no LTE antenna) – but I’m in WiFi zones most of the time anyway so download speed is a non-issue.

You won’t be disappointed with the Nexus

The Galaxy S II works with ScreenCast though, the Galaxy Nexus does not. So if you want to make video screen recordings go with the GS2.

You people kill me. I don’t even know why I contribute to the conversation when I am downvoted for discussing facts.

I own a Galaxy Nexus, I love the Galaxy Nexus, but the Galaxy Nexus is not a perfect phone. Just because I point out a flaw in an otherwise awesome phone I lose cool points. It had happened to me several times on this site otherwise I wouldn’t take the time to complain about it on this thread.

Grow up fanboys and at least read and understand comments before you down vote them. You’re making Apple fan look good.

I don’t have either but on paper it seems that a Galaxy Nexus is like a GSII with a GSIII screen. Neither phones are that great looking but the GNex seems more original. I hear the GSII has a much better camera.

The GSII might have a superior GPU but if you think about it, Google has been developing Android on the PowerVR GPU in the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus since Android 2.3 which could mean a more optimized experience compared to other GPUs. Also, since Apple’s devices use PowerVR GPUs I wouldn’t be surprised if most apps are optimized for it!

It depends on how tech-savvy you are and how much you want to fiddle with the phone. If yes, and you want a pure stock experience, you can easily root a SII and flash a AOSP rom such as Cyanogenmod

The nexus daaa, people who come to this website daily knows that the nexus is worth the extra $50.

Samsung GALAXY Nexus or SIII not SII

As compared with each other from every angle.
