Weekend Community Interest Columns

Posted Jul 26, 2013 at 12:40 pm in Threads > Opinions

Would anyone be interested in a recurring column that features daily use power apps? Something like “apps for families” “apps for parents with young children” “apps for the ladies?” That kind of stuff?

Any other community interest ideas you’d like to see on the weekends? Post ‘em here!

Cheers!

This is what I’m talking about.. Heck yeah… Catering to specific groups would definitely be able to provide others with a sense of what kind Apps such and such are. I feel that (IN my own opinion of course) if people (especially those who don’t have a wide app knowledge base) knew what types were being talked about or had questions about certain app (like is Minion Rush okay for my kid to play) then they could make more of an informed decision.. Like I said.. IMO this idea is awesome..

I think we need a “Weekly Carrier News Roundup”. Not talking about “who’s the cheapest” or “who’s the best” but moreso talking about “what carriers did what this week”. While there is coverage on carrier news, sometimes there’s just so much that it’d be nice to have a roundup so I can catch up on what I missed.

I’m not sure on carrier news, as it’s county dependent, and even that is regional depended when it come to USA.

I’m so glad we have almost 100% coverage by all our carriers.

Forgetting 4g of course, as only one carrier has it atm, and is being rolled out slowly. It’s my carrier T-mobile, but I decided as my 3g to is quick enough all the place I go to steam Netflix, I don’t need to jump from cheap unlimited 3g to very expensive and limited 4g.

forgot to end the post, got mixed up.

Any how, I stuck with my 3g,atm there is no reason to *upgrade* in my opinion.

I like the app category aspect, maybe feature 3 to 5apps daily with a voting system between them

Then have a round up of the best apps that week, maybe an app off at the end of the month. Would be a good way to see what rises to the top, and what people are actually doing with the devices.

I’ll leave it to someone else to work out the details.

Oh oh oh… In the post below the days votes, would be a good source for the apps for the following days votes, making the whole thing almost self supporting. Once to you have a format, and template it would take literally minutes each day to fulfil.

I demand more puppies. There are not enough puppies on AAM and I think we should have a column.

Android Police does a lot of app reviews but too much of it is focused around games… something I don’t find myself doing much on my phone (with the exception of a -very – round of Dragon Fly on the bus).

I would like to see some more focus brought to utility and everyday apps! Apps that anyone could enjoy. Maybe add a must-have list per week with a semi-detailed review for each?

Something I really enjoy is if the AAM staff could actually reach out to some app developers (preferably smaller ones) and have them answer some questions from the community as well? This could happen every second Friday or something. Could be popular or a big flop…but it’s an idea :)
