Why Prepaid? (New site launch! Feedback wanted.)

Posted Sep 27, 2012 at 1:43 pm in Threads > Opinions

I’m launching a new site today. http://www.whyprepaid.org/

Taylor has made a few posts about about prepaid providers, and he has a post coming shortly with a more in-depth review, but in general, prepaid plans are superior and cheaper than postpaid (i.e., on contract) plans, and I’ve finally put together a site explaining why in one place. I invite you all to take a look, and I’m genuinely interested in your feedback. I will be adding to it over the next several weeks.

If anyone would like to switch to a prepaid plan, if you use my referral link to Solavei, I may reimburse your new membership fee (limited time offer). Message me privately for details. Note: I’m signed up under Taylor, so any benefits I receive will cascade upward to him as well!

Even if you’re not interested in switching, please share the page within your own networks to spread the word.

I think it is a very nice site so far.

Thanks for the feedback on mobile. I haven’t done anything to optimize it for mobile browsing yet, though that’s definitely high on my to-do list. The “Ask a Question” bit is unfortunate – I’ll look into that, but it may be a non-issue once I add a mobile optimized theme.

Regarding the “collapsing” – you mean the lack of fluidity (i.e., the site doesn’t reposition as you resize the window)? I hadn’t considered that when I chose the theme, since my personal habit is to have my browser window maximized. Fortunately, I didn’t do any significant edits to the bundled theme I chose, so it wouldn’t be hard to swap it out for one which supports a fluid layout.

I’m still trying to figure out the best approach to site navigation for new posts, since the core of the site is static. There’s a “New Posts” section to the right, but that won’t show everything forever (nor should it).

I’ve improved the responsiveness. It should display better on resize and mobile devices now. Still need to tweak the “Ask a Question” sidebar.
