Google invites press to Jan. 5 Android event

In one week we will have the full details on the Nexus One Android phone. Google has scheduled a press conference for January 5, 2010 at their headquarters in Mountain View, CA for what they are calling an “Android press gathering”. The event comes one day before CES kicks off in Las Vegas so we will be unable to attend (oh, and we were not invited heh).

Engadget had also started the rumor that the first Nexus One units to become available would be invite only. I had heard nothing to back this up until today. A user by the name of Socalfrank has posted on the Motorola forums that he received a “pre-invite” from Google, but details are limited.

I was hoping to have a Nexus One in my hands by January 5 so I could take it to Vegas, but it looks like that won’t be happening now. My fingers are now crossed wishing I will somehow be able to purchase the phone and get it overnighted to our hotel.

[Thank you Justin for the tip]
