Google updates Listen, Shopper, and Voice

I don’t know the significance of it, but Google likes to update their Android apps in quick succession of each other. Listen, Shopper, and Voice all received updates today, but most appear to be minor.

The notable update here is the new inbox synchronization in Google Voice. Messages previously took up to 15 minutes to hit the inbox, but they should now arrive within seconds. I’ve experienced the voicemail delay several times myself, so I’m glad they finally fixed it.

  • Multiple Google account support

Google Shopper updates

  • Another background fix
  • Beep and review changes

Like I posted on Lifehacker, this Google Voice app update is long overdue, especially for those of us who use GV as our sole text message app. Still lacking is MMS capability, and the ability to send messages over 160 characters.

why didn’t you just use gmail notification before? Always worked and was always instant.
I don’t ever use mms (that’s what gmail is for), but I can see how tithe lack of it can be annoying. Personally I’d rather see them add support for shorthand sms numbers, such as twitter’s.

I wonder why Google Voice on the Nexus One isn’t linked to the market version of the app like Google Maps is. I still have GV 0.3.0 and never got a notice about the newer 0.3.2. Is there some reason Google is keeping the two separate? I have noticed that there isn’t a link between the N1 version and the market version of Goggles either. Is it best to wait for Google to update these apps when they send out OTA updates of Android?

I have the nexus one and I got the update through the market no problem. Not sure why you wouldn’t be able to see it.
And the sms notification works great.

    This is good news.

Unfortunately, neither 0.3.0 nor 0.3.2 work at all (immediately force close on launch) on the myTouch 3G (3.5 mm jack) I just purchased.

Google Listen is an awesome app but has a serious bug whereby it downloads podcasts over 3G even when the setting to only use WiFi is selected. I discovered I had exceeded my data allowance & been charged money & Listen was the reason…
No mention of this having been fixed in the update 1.1.2 even though this is being talked about on their discussion boards.

Hi, I think your website might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your website in Ie, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, awesome blog!
