On demand: Android and Me Show 006

Update: We will be giving away some tees during the show today. Near the end of the show we’ll be holding a short contest in the chat room where listeners will have a shot at some shirts.

We had to take last week off due to scheduling conflicts but we are back today at our regular time, 2PM CT (3 PM ET / 12 PM PT). Each week we broadcast live to discuss all the biggest Android happenings of the week, all while taking your calls and hanging out in the group chat. Come join us on the BlogTalkRadio page to get in on the fun.

Show notes

HTC Desire and Legend – At the gdgt live Austin event during SXSW we got to play with the new phones from HTC and were pretty impressed. Full details about our time hands on and impressions about the upcoming releases…

Android 2.1 for Droid – The Droid is finally getting upgraded to 2.1 and users are rejoicing. We’ve been promised the upgrade in the past but it looks like this could be the real deal.

AT&T Nexus One – The Nexus One is finally available for AT&T and in Canada. Will the wider availability give the superphone the bump it needs?

CLIQ XT review – Our first review unit has come and gone but we’ve got plenty of impressions of the CLIQ XT to share. And surprise, they aren’t all bad. The CLIQ XT is a worthy successor and pretty solid entry level phone.

PS3 graphics – PS3 graphics in your pocket? Say whaaaat? It could be a reality in a couple years and we can hardly wait.

AppAware – App discovery has always been a huge problem on any platform. App Aware aims to fill the gap by tracking user’s installs, upgrades, and removals in real-time. And it is pretty awesome.

New Foursquare and Gowalla – We used both apps extensively while running around Austin during SXSW. Which app had the smoother check-in? Which was the better experience?

Location aware check-in services are the subject of our weekly poll and we want to know what you think:

Keep on eye on the Buzz layer for Google Maps. Clunky, primordial “check-ins” possible right now. The data sets Google has ( Mobile Adsense for Google Maps, Google Shopper, Latitude, and Googles, etc. ) make it a serious threat.

I hate to sound like a newb, but how do I get the live broadcast to play using Google Listen? I can’t go to on my computer because it’s blocked at work, so I tried out Listen for the first time today and it seemed to work fine at first. I was able to get all the past shows with ease, but I can’t figure out how to listen to the live show going on right now. When I try searching for more shows, nothing more is found.

Google Listen is only for on demand shows. You are not able to listen live.

In order to tune-in live, you have to visit the BlogTalkRadio site from your PC or phone.

You can also use the dial in number and listen live over any phone.
