Samsung Galaxy S spied for AT&T

Our friends over at AndroidGuys have dug up some pictures of what appears to be a version of the Samsung Galaxy S headed to AT&T. The leaked phone has the model number SGH-i897 (which we have seen before), but the outer casing looks a little different than the Galaxy S we know and love. Gone is the iPhone-inspired design which has been replaced by more rounded edges.

We previously reported that the Samsung Galaxy S was coming to all four major U.S. carriers, but this is the first evidence we have received. These images reportedly came from a developer handset, so it sounds like AT&T is already seeding these devices out and a launch could be around the corner.

The source also claims this device has Google Search implemented instead of the Yahoo Search we saw on the Motorola Backflip. That could always change by launch, but hopefully they leave Google Search in this Google-powered phone.

This is a great device, however I am lost my faith in Samsung, also is T Mobile USA going to get any new devices besides the mytouch series.

    This handset looks nice!

If AT&T keeps all the regular features in it like it sounds like they might, then I will buy this handset. So far it’s the best Android handset I’ve heard about on AT&T yet.

Samsung is on my ban-list. They may make great hardware, but their software support sucks. HTC may be slow, but at least their updates come out eventually when technically feasible.

Another thing that sucks about Samsung is their TouchWiz UI. Seriously, they should stick with the stock Android UI. I would say the same for Motorola’s Blur and Sony Ericsson’s Timescape, but that’s OT.

It’s already been practically confirmed for T-Mobile. Look at the related article links.

DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG PHONES!!!! you will regret it!!! … they suck at upgrading to newer versions of Android!! you can’t go wrong with motorola or HTC / google

Well, what other Android phone can I get on AT&T? (I’m not switching since AT&T is cheaper for me than even Sprint or Boost–$115/mo for 2 iPhone 3GSs). And this will do far better on AT&T than the Behold II did on T-Mobile. Honestly, if you choose to go with an unpopular network just to save a few bucks (for me T-mo would cost more) then you shouldn’t ve surprised when a manufacturer can’t justify providing updates for a less-popular phone.

You guys must be little children because any adult would love this top of the line phone! Just because you have not got an update on your previous Samsungs doesnt mean anything. If you want the updated Rom, then root your phone and put it on there yourself. Its that simple! I have had 2.1 on my Behold 2 since April and it works flawlessly.

Haha, i also had a chance to play with this phone a month ago and it was absolutely amazing, just hope this time it has camera flash. BTW, touch wiz 3.0 isnt that bad compared to Sense ui.

I guess your OK with bad customer service I paid good money for the behold 2 to be lead on and that’s what they’ll do with the galaxy s… we’re not children just consumers that are seriously upset at this situation
