AT&T will become the second carrier to get their version of the Samsung Galaxy S into stores when they launch the Samsung Captivate on July 18th for $199 with a new 2-year contract. T-Mobile’s Samsung Vibrant will debut on July 15th for the same price and we have yet to learn the launch dates for Sprint’s Epic 4G and the Verizon Fascinate.

This is a cool phone. I currently have an iphone 2G on At&T and would strongly consider getting this one if not for two things. Samsung… they never update their phone’s software and; AT&T has locked down their android so that you cant install apps from third parties.

I’m in an AT&T area that shows (or at least used to show) good 3G coverage, yet everyone I know with a 3G AT&T phone has trouble holding a 3G signal. Even my brother in law returned his Nook due to lack of 3G stability and replaced it with a Kindle. (Nook’s use AT&T 3G w/o any 2G fallback, the Kindle uses Sprint and holds a signal just about everywhere around here). Now what about Sprint and the EPIC? …. Surely they don’t want to be the last kid in the pool!

Hate AT&Ts version of the Galaxy S. I think it is by far the ugliest of all the Galaxy S phones. Nowonder AT&T wanted it.
Looks like it’s not sure if its an Android phone, Blackberry, iPhone or car with a fake carbon fiber.. hood
