TweetDeck for Android coming soon…public beta THIS WEEK

TweetDeck for Android is arguably one of the most anticipated Android apps out there. We have long known that TweetDeck for Android in the works, but it seems the long wait for Tweetdeck’s release may soon be drawing to a close.

The TweetDeck Blog has announced that they are nearing completion of their TweetDeck Android client, and that a public beta will be available this week. Needless to say I, like you, am very excited for this release and have been (not-so) patiently awaiting this app ever since it was first announced.

TweetDeck is going to be a game-changer, as it will likely bring Twitter, Facebook, Google Buzz, and perhaps FourSquare integration into a single Android application.

Do you think TweetDeck for Android will be enough to entice you to ditch the official Twitter and Facebook applications?  Sound off in the comments.

Those who wish to take part in TweetDeck for Android’s public beta test this week should follow TweetDeck on Twitter, as well as keep up with the TweetDeck blog.

Anthony loves all things technology, from hardware to apps and games. You can connect with him via Google+ or Twitter by clicking one of the fancy doo-dads above.

Cool idea and useful for people who use those apps. Personally I don’t use any of them and could care less about an easier way to tell people what I’m eating for breakfast or when I’m taking a shower. Almost everyday someone tell me a story that reconfirms my commitment to not getting sucked into facebook. Go ahead and down rank my comment, I know you want to.

I upped your comment. I appreciate the honesty. Social media is not for everyone, just for most people. ;)

I know exactly what you mean. (sighs) Sadly, I fell pray to getting a Facebook account a couple days ago. I think it’s from boredom…

      • Killa

Whoops. I only just noticed. I meant “prey.”

I’ve never been a fan of most social media and I wouldn’t touch facebook. Twitter is a fantastic way to keep up with the news though. It appears on twitter instantly. Following like minded people is a great way to pick up new things as well.

I follow a large number of android users and it’s a great way to find out about new phones, apps and ROMs.

Ha, their blog post says we’ve really been pushing the limits of what Android can do. I’m curious what they mean. I can’t imagine a Twitter client feature that would blow my mind. I mean maybe if they had said the limits of what a Twitter client can do… But to say they’ve stretched the entire OS is a bit silly and and cocky sounding.

Maybe TweetDeck can generate IRL friends for you or brew you a cup of hot tea or something along those magical lines.

I’ve heard in addition to Foursquare integration, it’s going to have Jimmy John’s integration. TweetDeck will then subconsciously order you a Jimmy John’s the second you get hungry.

BAM! We’re full of feature reveals here at AAM.

I already do use seesmic on my HTC Desire but I use TweetDeck on my windows PC.

Let’s see how this application stacks up since I only make use of twitter for now.

Well, TweetDeck for iPhone has been around for quite a while. I used to see a lot of iPhone users using TweetDeck, but not so much anymore. I’ll probably try TweetDeck (I use it on my desktop, which I’ve been using much less since I got my Nexus), but I don’t see it replacing my Facebook app. And I don’t do foursquare (I wish no one did – it just clutters timelines), and no one uses Google Buzz.

If it’s not as half-a$$ed as every other Facebook app then sure, it’ll probably get me to jump ship.
But if not, there’s already tons of great Twitter apps available for Android. If the Facebook integration is better than Facebook’s official app, then i’ll buy it.

I don’t see the need of having an all-in-one type deal. Have people really gotten this lazy that they can’t press ‘home’ and find the other app? Seriously, If it happens to be good for Twitter AND Facebook, then i’ll buy into it. But if it can’t do Facebook then i’ll stick with Touiter, Twidroyd, Official Twitter app, Twicca, etc.

I’ve head about tweet deck here and there. Never really knew what it was until just now. The only social networking app I use anywhere near frequently is twitter, or “touiteur.” So I can’t say I’m too exited.

    • Killa

If you read the blog post it says to look out for a beta test later this week.

Finally my prayers have been answered lol

im sticking with Twicca. It seems to have less bloat than a lot of Twitter clients, and most importantly, its fast!

    • Anthony Domanico

Yes, but you’re comparing something known (Twicca) with something unknown (TweetDeck). Will you so much as try TweetDeck?

      • http://Website zymeck

i use Tweetdesk as my main desktop client. I know what i does ;)

and since i dont regularly uses facebook these days, i dont feel the need to install on my phone :P
