Dell to release Android version of the WP7 Venue Pro

A report from PCWorld states that Dell’s upcoming Windows Phone 7 device headed for T-Mobile will also be getting the Android treatment soon. The Dell Venue Pro offers a sliding design with full portrait QWERTY keyboard and features a 1 GHz Snapdragon (second-generation), 4.1 WVGA AMOLED capacitive┬ádisplay, 5 megapixel camera with flash and autofocus, and a 1 GB ROM with 512 MB RAM.

The design of the Venue Pro looks a lot like the leaked Dell handsets we saw before summer. Most of those phones were rumored for AT&T, but we can see with the Venue Pro that Dell is working with other carriers.

For an idea of what to expect, check out this quick hands-on video from our friend David of Phonedog or read the first impressions from Joanna of Engadget.

Wow all these new phones coming out its getting complicated even for those in the know. I mean you buy a phone monday and Wednesday there is a new one. The variables who gets it what generation chip is it vanilla etc etc. I say wow ill just keep my nexus one darn I get updates first so if it ain’t broke why change it right.

I think the 4.1 is too long for a portrait QWERTY slider…3.5 would be ideal. But hey, I like the Palm Pre form factor, so call me biased.

For some reason, MSFT decided that all first generation WP7 phones are going to use the same processor. That’s fine.

But for the Android version, there’s no need for this. This phone with QSD8x50 processor will instantly become dated when it gets released to the public. Dell, please use one of the second gen processors. Then you have my attention!

Anyone finds that this phone looks a lot like the dell thunder?

That actually looks pretty nice. It’s cool to see some new form-factors coming out like this.

Looks really nice, however with all of these duel core T2 phones on the horizon, that snapdragon seems kind of dated… only time will tell.

This is the ideal form factor … and the ideal screen size. I don’t know how good Dell will be as a phone manufacturer.. but why hasn’t HTC done this form factor. I’m a big HTC fan ..and I like the fact that they have the best support for ROMS .. but their form factors are getting old and boring.. and not creative.

I used to have a palm Pre .. and that’s the one thing i miss being able to pull down my keyboard and start typing … I used to love landscape keyboard until I got the palm Pre
