Android and Me Mailbag, submit your questions, win free stuff

We love to interact with our readers over Facebook and Twitter, but not everyone uses those platforms and sometimes it’s hard to get our attention with all the noise that goes on those networks.

The Android and Me Mailbag is your chance to ask any question to anyone on our small team. Looking for a new phone? We can help. Need an application that does X? Let us help you find it. Who do you think will have the first dual-core phone? I’ll let you know what I think. Need advice on modding your phone? Let us know.

Our goal is to publish the mailbag once a week depending on how many questions we receive. To encourage you guys to send in letters, each week we will pick a “Letter of the Week” who will win a free prize (accessories, shirts, app subscriptions, some Android Swag, and even some phones).

To send us a letter, just visit the mailbag page and submit a question. If you want to address it to a certain team member, just include “Dear Clark,” and we will get it to the right person.

This is for Christopher. I did a one click root on my AT&T Captivate to get around their security so that I can download thirdparty apps. I don’t think it worked because even though I have the superuser permission icon, I still can’t get my third party apps like Sirius radio. HELP ME PLEASE!!! What am I doing wrong? I really need all of my lovely apps that I used to have on my Hero. Oh and help with adding 2.2 please!

This is for Christopher. ALL my friends are pretty rich & have really cool phones (iPhone, Droid 2, Galaxy S, Evo) while I, on the other hand, am not rich and currently have the FIRST myTouch 3g. I feel kind of like a loser when I’m around them and their cool phones. I cant really afford a new phone, but since youre the king of phone mods, any advice on how to upgrade mine?

My question if for Nick. I have an Evo and was wondering if I should root it or not? I’ve had it since mid July and am worried that I’ll lose my pictures. I know my settings and apps I won’t bit I don’t want to lose my pics. The reason I want to is to get rid of the useless apps that came preinstalled, like NASCAR and such. One other question, I seem to be having an issue with apps that are on my SD card not updating. I’ve been unmounting it just to update apps for about 3 weeks now and other random new apps won’t install unless I unmount it. This is quite annoying. Thanks Nick.
