HTC seeks to trademark the ‘HTC EVO Shift 4G’ name

It looks like Sprint and HTC may be working on another 4G phone which will be blessed with the EVO name.  Last month, HTC filed a trademark application for the name “HTC EVO Shift 4G.”  As of now, that’s pretty much all the information we have.  Back in August, a new list of HTC code names indicated that HTC had a new CDMA device in the works.

Handset specification and launch details are anyone’s guess at this point, though we wouldn’t expect the HTC EVO Shift 4G to feature anything less than its predecessor.  A new Android phone with a 4.3 inch screen, a second generation 1GHz Snapdragon processor and maybe even a QWERTY keyboard would definitely make the top of my list this holiday season.

To me, physical (QWERTY) keyboards seem too clunky to me. I love the full touch screen of the EVO. No moving parts to fumble with. Swype on the EVO screen works like a charm.

    Cant wait lol…..

I bet you that this is the retail name for the HTC Knight that is set to be released in Jan.

3.7″ QWERTY — basically a Desire Z with WiMax and a very EVO-like front build. If you look at the Knight, it looks like exactly like that.

      Here it is:

It’s currently listing the same first generation Snapdragon in it’s specs which would ruin it completely.

I’m not convinced, if the image is not fake and the specs aren’t bogus then this wouldn’t be consider a next gen phone for the Evo. In some ways it would be a step back with smaller screen and no front facing camera. We will just have to wait and see but my best guest this is not the HTC Knight.

Heading over right now to get rid of my epic, and go back to evo, htc seems better with updates, maybe if the new evo has gingerbread, they will update the first evo to gingerbread as well, would be nice, and after using the epic, I agree, the qwerty is nice, but I BARELY use it, think an evo with qwerty would be too clunky.

Whatever the HTC knight is it IS NOT A EVO….The next HTC EVO 2 will have to be 4.3 to 4.5 inch screen, duel core has to exist or at least 1.5 processor, new HTC SENSE QUICK BOOT, RUNING GINGERBREAD OUT THE BOX ON LAUNCH DAY. Otherwise the current evo matches up nicely today against any device on the market that just car out….The current Windows 7 or MYTOUCH 4G on t-mobile still can’t match the HTC evo today….A keyboard on the next evo WILL NEVER HAPPEN….AND FOR THE RECORD SAMSUNG EPIC IS NOT AND NEVER WILL BE BETTER THAN THE HTC EVO SAMSUNG IS LOUSY THAT IS EXACTLY WHY EPIC OWNERS ARE STILL WAITING FOR 2.2 SAMSUNG DUMPS THERE CUSTOMERS….HTC/SPRINT KNOW THE EVO IS THE FLAGSHIP DEVICE FOR SPRINT SO THEY WILL ALWAYS MAKE SURE UPDATES COME TO THE EVO

I’m a EVO owner and I do think feature for feature it still is one of the best phones but the CPU/GPU are complete crap compared to everything else. Hell, even the OG Droid can beat out the GPU in the EVO.

And why should this have a 4.3″ display? I bet you that this will just be a Desire Z with some extra stuff like WiMax.

I really hope this is a global phone. Otherwise I’m not sure I have enough reason to upgrade.

And hopefully it is also dual-cored, next gen Snapdragon with the updated Sense OR Gingerbread!
