Dell Streak 7 likely to be announced by T-Mobile next month at CES

The Wall Street Journal reported that Dell would release their 7-inch tablet back in September, but for whatever reasons the project was put on hold. Now after several months of waiting, the Dell Streak 7 has showed its face once again.

Today Engadget posted a leaked slide deck that details an upcoming Dell commercial for the tablet and TmoNews reported that several T-Mobile employees have started to see accessories for the Dell Streak 7 appear in their inventory system.

We already know that T-Mobile has their CES media event scheduled for January 6th and they will be talking about new Android phones, faster network speeds, and 4G tablets. We have it on good record that T-Mobile will use the event to announce the Dell Streak 7.

Based on previous leaks we expect the Streak 7 will run Android 2.2 with Dell’s custom Stage UI. Other features include a Tegra 2 processor, 7-inch Gorilla Glass touchscreen, GPS navigation, e-Reader application, rear and front-facing cameras, and support for T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network.

At this point it’s kind of hard to get excited about any Android devices from Dell, but maybe the new leadership will turn around their mobile division. What do you think Dell’s chances of success are with the upcoming Streak 7?

Looking at the specs,Atleast its modern and not outdated!

Yeah, at least they have better features now compared to the last time. It’s too bad I’m just not into the whole tablet thing. I have my phone and my laptop so I’m good. Tablets are just like over sized Android phones to me. Until I see a huge amalgamation of the phone and laptop features that I like into a tablet, I’ll be put off.

All this stuff being rimless and confirmed for CES but I hear nothing for Sprint. The Evo Shift doesn’t count.

  • http://Website UniqueNate

I meant to say rumors. In the above post. But yea, I don’t hear anything about Sprint getting anything. I’m sure down the line they’ll have something. I would at least like to hear something hinted.

I wasn’t a believer in tablets until I picked up an iPad last May, “just to test it out”. Within a very short while I had completely changed my view and now am so engaged by it that I wish I’d bought the 3G version instead of the WiFi version; then I’d sell my Android smartphone and just have a dumbphone for the rare occasions I actually make a voice call. The only drawback with the iPad is the relatively large size of it. I think that 7″ might actually be the sweet spot, size-wise. If Dell prices the thing right, they stand to sell a schwack of them.

Well, being a Streak 5 owner who is already running 2.2 id have to say the only thing that is exciting about the tablet itself is the T2 processor. The Streak is the best Android phone ive had to date, but that being said my first two were the LG Eve, and the SE’s X10. Both of which sucked. I love my Streak, and I’m sure the new 7 inch tab will run at least as smooth as the 5 inch slate. Give me a 10 inch tablet running gingerbread, and don’t screw it up, and Dell will have my loyalty.

Idk. Dell has potential, they really do
I mean overall, they had me wanting the Streak.
    Than, it went to AT&T.
Do I want the 7-incher? Not realy.
I rather pass for another tablet.
The specs are good no lie,
But I ready to step up to the Streak, now I’m not ready to step up to the Streak7 or any Dell device.
    At least not yet.
    Exciting tho!
But I hope CES won’t be all about this petty device.
Love you Dell (I guess), but your just not so much in demand yet :)

    will it make calls?

the question is, will it blend.

  • http://Website Lucian Armasu

I hope it uses the 1280×800 resolution like all upcoming 7″ Honeycomb tablets, and not the 1024×600 one.

Dell Sreak 5 is historical step , but Dell 7 is nothing special .
5 inches smartphone is maximum size to fit in the pocket, and 5inches tablet is the size to fit in the pocket. That is Dell Streak.
The war against Streak is because it declare the end of coventional mobilphone era. Soon there will be only all-in-one device and size will be 5 inches display !

Don’t get your hopes up…don’t forget, it’s Dell we are talking about!!!!!

  • http://Website mr. android

I would say its a good idea except that dell is behind it and until now has showed they dont care about updating their products and also by selling very low end android phones for att , except for the streak which was a good product that didnt have much potential and didnt survive long before it was already forgotten

No posts for three days. It is the 26th about 8pm eastern and no posts since the 23rd in the morning. I know it is christmas, but that is just one day. These amateurs do not post on normal weekends. Is this just a hobby or something you are really serious about. All you do is poorly recycle other blogs posts. Androidspin and Androidpolice are running laps around you guys. This is a joke, do not continue to visit this site and give these guys traffic (ad dollars) to do nothing. This is america and you should earn things, not sit back and expect others to do the leg work then profit. Lame.

Well, I tell you what… you work 7 days a week and lets see if your mood changes… ok buttercup?

Android & Me usually has postings Monday-Fridays, and usually top stories/breaking news on weekends. But, 5 days a week is not too bad right? I mean, lets be hypocritical here, and demand news 7 days a week, when you wont.

Worth a look, but I’ll pass if it doesn’t have phone functionality and bluetooth headset capability. The Tab lacked both. #fail

Jealousy of Android does not excuse your arrogance with an Apple!

Well, there is 1 thing going for it…

It is certainly not on AT&T this time.

Now, if it would only release with Gingerbread (2.3) or Honeycomb (2.4/3.0)… b/c as we all know, 2.1 is outdated.
