Some carriers have been known to poke fun at the competition when it comes to talking and surfing the web at the same time on a smartphone. Verizon has said they are working to bring simultaneous voice and data over 3G to more of their handsets and the upcoming HTC Thunderbolt will be one of the first to support this feature.
Our friends at Phandroid posted a leaked memo which states the Thunderbolt has the functionality that “allows simultaneous voice and data while on the VZW 3G netowrk.” The memo goes on to say that Verizon “cannot promise the experience will be one that is consistent with our brand” and informs employees that they should not reference the functionality as a benefit when talking with customers.
Another detail revealed by the leak is the fact that the Thunderbolt will not support Verizon’s Mobile Hotspot tethering at launch. Hopefully that functionality will be added shortly after launch via an over-the-air software update.
