Pre-order the Motorola Atrix from AT&T

AT&T is now taking pre-orders on the Motorola Atrix and is expected to deliver the handset to customers by March 6th. Those willing to sign up for a new two year contract will be able to reserve on of the handsets for $199.99. But if you’re more of a free spirit or a want to pick up the handset in the middle of your contract, the full retail price for the Atrix is set at $499.99.

While the phone itself isn’t terribly expensive, if you were planning on using the Motorola Atrix to its full potential, you’ll need to save up quite a bit of extra cash. The Motorola Atrix Laptop Dock will set you back $299 after a $100 mail-in-rebate while the full Webtop Access Kit (including dock, keyboard, mouser and remote) will cost you $189. The Motorola Atrix is by far the most feature-rich device scheduled to launch this spring; I’m just not convinced that most people will have the money to unlock the true power inside Motorola’s first Tegra 2 powered handset.

Definitely a cool concept with this phone. Being able to purchase the phone, then add on to it and expand the user experience. The complete package is a bit hefty in price, but you have to pay to play i guess.

I can see this as a huge trend in computing. I travel a lot for my job, and don’t always need my laptop. But I do need to occasionally edit word, PowerPoint. Excel documents on the road on top of e-mail and web tasks like approving time sheets and such.

Hopefully the true power of Tegra 2 will demonstrated in the phone itself and not the docks.

If you pre-ordered the phone, will it ship out a few days before the set release date, or will I get it A LOT sooner?

$499 for this phone? That’s an amazing price. Really competitive, considering last-year phones are still in the $450-$550 range!

I wanted the phone until I saw the prices of the mandatory data plans and the laptop dock… good grief…. I’ll wait for the prices to go down…

I just pre-ordered my Atrix yesterday. Had to let go of my Samsung Captivate (luckily I was under the 30 return period). The people at the store I went to had no idea that the pre-sale had even started, nor did they know how much it was or when they would start shipping.

But my Atrix is supposedly on the way regardless ; )

What cracks me up is this phone is billed as “4G”, yet it doesnt even have HSUPA. It’s still limited to 384kbps upload speed. What a joke for a “4G” phone.

Don’t hate Derrick, you apple troll. Go back to TIPB.COM. The blog with NO NEWS until Steve Jobs farts in public and you trolls get some excitement.
Whether the Atrix is 4G or not, this phone wipes the floors with the iPhone 4. Whats the next big thing for apple?? Dual core?!
By the time Apple comes out with something new, Android will be on Tegra 3 and OMAP5. Go Google (not apple) but Google OMAP5 and you will see how the future Android phones will run.

Hey don’t be sad…At least you Apple trolls get free bumpers with $300 down and a 2 year contract.
