Android and Me and You (aka Where did Taylor go?)

Most of you have noticed by now that I stopped posting articles and there is a good reason for that. After two years of solid Android blogging, it is time for me to move on.

This week I began my new job as a product manager at NetShelter Technology Media. The name might be foreign to you, but NetShelter is the company responsible for serving our ads and they are a major reason we were able to grow this platform to the size that it reached.

I started this blog two years ago when there was just a single Android phone and only a handful of fan sites. From the moment I got my pre-ordered G1 in the mail, I recognized that Android was the future of mobile and I wanted to tell the world about it.

Fast forward to today and now there are thousands of Android devices available in every country and hundreds of blogs that report on them. Android became the leading smartphone platform and I accomplished everything I wanted to as a blogger.

Because I am leaving that does not mean Android and Me will fade away. In fact, I think the best is yet to come. I’m transferring complete control of the site to Clark and Angie, who have been working on a special project that will take Android and Me to the next level. Clark has already started to hire several new writers to keep up with the news and I hope you give them a warm welcome.

I’d like to thank everyone that contributed to the success of the site. I wish I could name every person, but I’m sure there would be some names I leave off (and I might get some people in trouble hah).

If you want to keep up with my journeys or get in touch with me, you can follow me on Twitter - @wimbet.

p.s. I know everyone loved my Android Insider rumor reports so I’ll leave you with one final tip. LG Nexus 3 with Tegra 3 by Christmas…

Taylor is the founder of Android and Me. He resides in Dallas and carries the Samsung Galaxy S 4 and HTC One as his daily devices. Ask him a question on Twitter or Google+ and he is likely to respond. | Ethics statement

i found this site from some a random android news post on androidandme’s twitter account and have liked it ever since. i especially liked your device forecasting and speculation. i really hope that keeps up on the site.

that being said, thanks for your hardwork taylor, you kept me coming back for more!

    • http://Website bemymonkey

Same here… this site has always been a refreshingly thoughtful, as well as wonderfully speculative alternative to the usual gadget blogs. There’s so much more to blogging than just summarizing a source in a few lines… but I’m confident we won’t be losing that aspect of Android and Me any time soon.

      Keep up the good work!

Thank you Taylor for all your wonderful and informative posts. Hope you accomplish whatever you desire in your new endeavors :) cheers!

P.s who will provide the new android insider rumors now? Lol.

We’ll just continue to make shit up as we always have. It keeps everyone on their toes.

pr0tip: The iPhone 5 will run Android 2.4 Ice Cream. You heard it here first.

You are definitely my favorite android blogger. I hope someone else steps up to fill those shoes as well as you have. I wish you the best of luck!

  • http://Website UniqueNate

Awe, man. Android and me still rules! I hope the best in your new career.

Cough, cough, about the Nexus S 3, I’ve been thinking about that for a while based off the history of the original and latest N1 Jan 10, NS Dec 10 which was almost a year & that’s when successor happen, now N3 Dec 11 almost another year). One thing that I need to know or curious about..will it be for all carriers and if so, will it be on a timely manner and not kind of late like the Nexus S is. I hope so, then I can wait out on the NS4G on Sprint.

Anyways, the best of luck & success.

P.S. Everyone who is still here, please keep the rumor mill going whenever you have a hunch or tips. Android and me is the best mobile blog site to me.

  • http://Website Eric

There may be thousands of android blogs, but this was one of the best. Always loved the way technical details were never pushed under the rug, and rumors were always well explained and well founded.

I’m going to miss seeing your posts Taylor, best of luck to you. Looking foward to see what the other writers have in store.

I enjoyed your blog from the outset and even more when I realized we were living in the same city. It’s a damn shame we never got around to having a Whataburger 5-3-1 sandwich together. :-) Good luck on your new adventures and have some of that good San Francisco sourdough bread for me!

Good luck to you! This was the 1st site I started to follow when I got my first Android on July 23rd, my beloved Evo. I sure hope you are right about the N3. That’s exactly what I’ve had in mind for 3 months to eventually replace my Evo.

  • http://Website Westy

Honestly i think this is my favorite Blog you typical give full details and reports. Also your site looks extremely professional and about your tip.

LORD PLEASE GIVE ME THAT NEXUS 3 with LG. funny enough i saw the G2x and I’m close to selling my Nexus S for it. LG just seems to want to give Google more control over the phone. Samsung feels to high and mighty, Motorola probably wants more control over the phone and HTC I think feels it can offer a better product with its HTC Sense. LG wants to gain good ground with Android and if they work closely with Google they can put out some SOLID heat.

Amazing how Android took off since we started our Android sites (I created GoogleAndBlog back in the Summer of 2009 then sold last year) before there was an even an Android phone & people thought it was DOA due to the almighty iPhone.

It was great meeting you & your brother Clark in person at Google IO back in 2009, then Angela at IO 2010.

I loved the original content you lead in creating at AndroidandMe as well your brother Clark’s design & knew you would reach the top of the Android site echelon.

    Congrats to all your success

Congrats Taylor and the rest of the A&M team for that matter. I remember when A&M popped up and it was and has remained one of my favorite Android blogs. I really enjoyed seeing early indie efforts if you will turn into something bigger as it should. So you’re coming out west / SF eh? I’m down to grab a beer after you get settled in here and as always talk all things Android.

I remember following this site before I got an Android phone. It seemed so long ago. This is one of the sites that really developed my interest in the mobile sector. I loved this above others for its insightful posts, unlike some other websites that just go through the main points of new tips. IMHO, androidandme has always provided more information, more opinions, and most importantly, more android fun than any other android-focused website. Taylor, you will be dearly missed. Thank you for setting up such a great blog! At last, adieu and all the best!
