Verizon’s 4G LTE spreading fast, more markets come June 16

Verizon was not joking about their commitment to expand their 4G coverage, which would cover about 200 million people by 2012. Verizon’s 4G LTE network lit up 9 new cities last week, but it seems like their work is not slowing down. Verizon is turning on the switch for the following markets on June 16 (and they are even more than last week):

  • Hartford, Conn.
  • Flint, Grand Rapids and Lansing, Mich.
  • Dayton and Springfield, Ohio
  • Salt Lake City
  • Spokane, Wash.
  • Sacramento, Calif.
  • Expansion in Oakland, Calif.
  • Fresno, Calif.
  • Boise, Idaho
  • Erie, Harrisburg and State College, Penn.
  • Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C.
  • Fort Wayne-Indianapolis
  • Milwaukee, Wis.
  • Sioux Falls, S.D.
  • It is good to see that 4G LTE is spreading widely, especially if you are the proud owner (or want to be) of an HTC Thunderbolt or a Samsung Droid Charge. With all these developments, though, chances are that there will be some rocks in the road. Verizon sure stumbled a bit (or a bunch) when their network went down last month. It does seem, though, like they have gotten up stronger now that they are bringing these blazing speeds to such a wide range of markets. Let’s just hope that they are not taking on more than they can handle and things work smoothly.

It’s really to bad verizon isn’t telling everyone what effects there beautiful shinny new LTE network is having on the BATTERY LIFE of android devices in general. Ask all Thunderbolt owners how their 4hr battery life is doing. Oh well it is what it is not only is LTE and Verizon DRAINING BATTERY LIFE BUT NOW THEY ARE DRAINING EVERYONE’S POCKET….Way to go BIG RED…

Really dont know what you are complaining about, draining pockets? I can truly say I have the best network available at a price LOWER than what i had paid with Sprint or T-Mo. Unlimited talk text and data for 270 a month on 5 lines which equals to 55 bux a month. Who offers that on at least a decent network? Sprint is pathetic with their so called “4G” network, that shit is plain crap, I had it for a single day on the so called “best android phone out there” the evo and boy did i slap my self on the face for taking that over the Galaxy S Vibrant on T-Mo. It took the thing 10 minutes just to download Angry Birds. People dont waste ur time there.

Now if they could just bring the price down…

I wish Verizon and Sprint switched to GSM and got UMA. The majority of the world uses GSM, why can’t they?
