AT&T to get Samsung Nexus S July 24th

A Nexus device is everything an Android fan could ask for. The pure Google experience without any manufacturer modifications. The Samsung Nexus S is currently available to T-Mobile and Sprint users, but we certainly wish it would be on all carriers. We have been expecting to see the device on AT&T (that AT&T-friendly White Nexus S has shown up in other parts of the world). Turns out it was only a matter of time before AT&T got the Nexus S; Google just announced the phone will be available on the carrier starting July 24th (this Sunday).

Like the T-Mobile version, the AT&T Nexus S will be available via Best Buy. Some of us simply can’t wait, though. Want to make sure you’re getting one of these as soon as possible? Pre-sales start today, so head over to your local Best Buy and take care of business. Just in case some of you AT&T customers haven’t gone over them lately, here are the specs for the Nexus S:

Samsung Nexus S Specifications

  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread (Nexus devices always get updates first)
  • 1 Ghz Hummingbird single-core processor
  • 512 MB of RAM
  • 4-inch WVGA (480×800) Super AMOLED display
  • 5 MP rear-facing camera / VGA front-facing camera (640×480)
  • NFC Chip, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, WiFi n/b/g, A-GPS

You probably already know the device. So, AT&T customers, if you want a Nexus S you now can have it. No more EDGE speeds for you! According to Google Mobile, you can pre-order this device at Best Buy stores or their site. (Please note:  I was not able to find the device on the site). Who’s getting one of these? And what’s going on, Verizon? You’re the only one left out!

Wow, I was pretty speechless when I read the tittle? I did not ever think AT&T would support the Nexus line. Wait, will it even be available on contract?

Especially since Nexus 3 is only a few months away. I already though it was already far too late for even Sprint to get the phone. At least Sprint added 4g to their version which accounted for the delay. Idk about this one guys…….an AT&T phone that let’s you sideload out of the box hmmmmm.

still dont know why carriers are getting this outdated phone

It’s good that it’s finally arriving, but the Nexus 3/Prime/whatever is on the horizon, and the Galaxy S II should be arriving relatively shortly (and is easily rooted).

While the Hummingbird certainly does hold it’s own, the age of the dual-core processor has come. Too bad we can’t get a Nexus S with the Galaxy S II internals. I would’ve bought that phone in a heart beat.

    A lil to late…

Now if I already have the Nexus S and already on AT&T, of course unlocked Nexus S…. will 3g be available to me upon release or am i still stuck with edge?

      Are you retarded?

    • Edgar Cervantes

No, you need the device that has the right radio frequencies for 3G to work on your device. You can try to sell your current Nexus S and buy the one with AT&T radios…

It may be late, but at least AT&T has a Nexus. I am on Verizon and I really wish they bring the next Nexus to their fall lineup.

in the uk, the there has been zero push behind the nexus s. no ads no nothing. in my local carphone warehouse (one of the biggest chains in uk) there isnt even a working model on display. however they have an iphone4 galaxy s and htc desire demos there WTF.

imo there is only the nexus s that can compete with the iphone on screen quality so have it on show and sell the thing.

im sure the networks and chains not get the larger kickbacks off the nexus.

due to the above ive not seen one person in the wild with a nexus s!!!!

ATT just catching up with Sprint as it was months ago. Coming soon Motorola Photon 4G and Samsung Epic! Oh ATT..what would we do without you’re obsolescence (sp?)?

I am SO OVER my fricking Backflip, and am wedded to AT&T due to family plan with other decision-makers. This is actually tempting – a decent phone with real Google. I was planning on waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S II, but if this comes in at $100, it might be worth it to me to get it – the $100 price difference is noticeable for me personally.
