HTC Vigor spotted on Dutch retailer site; possible GSM variant in the works?

Google and Motorola may be stealing most of the attention today, but that doesn’t mean we have to go without new details on HTC’s upcoming dual-core devices.  The latest news about the HTC Vigor comes to us via a Dutch retailer that posted a picture and specs about the phone.  We’re assuming the page was published by mistake, since it’s no longer available on the site.  Fortunately for us, HTC Inside was able to capture a screenshot before the page was taken offline.

The specs list for the HTC Vigor includes a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 4.3-inch 1280 x 720 HD display, 8 megapixel camera, Android 2.3.4, HTC Sense 3.5 and Beats by Dr. Dre Technology.  All those details match up with what was previously reported about the HTC Vigor, but at least we now know what the phone will look like.  The design of the HTC Vigor looks to be a cross between the HTC Sensation and the HTC Desire HD.  Previous reports have indicated that the HTC Vigor would be headed to Verizon’s CDMA network.  The fact that the phone showed up on a German retail site leads us to believe that HTC may also be working on a GSM variant for the European market.

We’re sure Samsung is getting ready for their big US debut of the Galaxy S II, but it seems like HTC is already one step ahead of them with their fall lineup:  the HTC Vigor, HTC Holiday and HTC Ruby.  Who do you think will be offering the best dual-core devices between now and the holiday season?

    qHD or 720p???

  • Arnaud

Although 720p would be a great addition I don’t think it will be that smooth on gingerbread even with a dual-core @ 1.5ghz. Can’t wait for ICS hardware acceleration!

    Nexus FTW

The language in the screenshot is Dutch, however it seems to be translated since the sentences just aren’t correct.

For the “fall” it will have to be htc. The only confirmed phone that samsung will release with top notch specs is the gsII variants which is already 3 months late. if they release the nexus that will probably land late fall or in the winter. HTC keeps pumping out top notch phones and top quality low/mid range phones as if phones are going out of style. HTC for the win.

By the way, did we declare a winner for the summer yet? GSII vs Sensation/Evo3D?

HTC takes the summer crown for the summer in the U.S. while Samsung totally kicked ass in Europe. I’m sure Samsung’s Galaxy S II variants for the U.S. market will be great – they just took too long to get here.

There’s a great line up of devices soon to be released but my eyes are on the next Nexus. However, if I had to pick I would go with the Samsung GSII.

HTC phones are already pretty strong in most categories. Their weakness has always been in the audio department, but things are surely going to change once Beats technology is incorporated. HTC phones are about to get that much better. Can’t wait to see what they have in store for 2012! More thoughts on Beats and the Vigor on my blog:
