HTC Rezound gets some hands-on time before this week’s unveiling

HTC Rezound

Want to get an early look at HTC’s other new 4G LTE phone coming this holiday season? YouTuber worldofjohnboy just uploaded a nearly five minute unboxing of a pre-production model HTC Rezound, which we had previously referred to as the HTC Vigor.

Nothing new is revealed in the video, but the previously leaked specs have once again been confirmed. Highlights of the Rezound include a 1.5GHz dual-core processor (likely Snapdragon S3), 4.3 inch 720p HD screen, 1GB of RAM, Sense 3.5, Beats Audio, and support for Verizon’s 4G LTE.

HTC is expected to unveil the Rezound at a New York event on November 3rd and we expect the device will land in Verizon stores on November 10th for $299 with 2-year contract. That is also the day that the Droid RAZR should be available and the Galaxy Nexus is rumored to launch around that timeframe, so Verizon customers will have plenty of high-end Android phones to chose from.

Check out the hands-on video of HTC’s latest and let us know what you think. Does the Rezound have enough appeal to choose it over the Droid RAZR or Galaxy Nexus?

I like how you can see his face reflecting on the phone. Ha!

This phone certainly beats the AT&T Vivid on AT&T since it has a 720p screen and beats audio. Still, I would be hard pressed to pick this phone over the Galaxy Nexus. I guess if you’re on Verizon, you can’t complain that there’s a lack of choice. Now if they could only give us a release date on the Nexus…

    1. Video in portrait. NO!

    2. get a goddamn tripod!

    Settle down Coop. :-)
Run some benchmarks if you can and post another review later on after some “normal” use to give us the lowdown on battery life and performance/user experience.
Looking forward to this one soon. My wife will get my Thunderbolt running CM7.1 or Thunderstick depending on her preference once this Rezound comes out.

I love htc always have and that will always be but another gingerbread device android does not need right now. Being a former evo 4g owner and current Evo 3d owner until all manufacturers can fiqure out what there upgrade path will be and exactly when those updates will make it to consumers devices they need to stop producing gingerbread handset rather it be 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 enough is enough. The focus needs to be on ice cream Sandwich and getting those related updates out to the devices they have decided will recieve the update. I will forever support android no other platform exist that is better but now the platform should focus more on less devices being brought to market and better updates to the handsets that have made it to market. Some serious catching up needs to be done collectively inorder to bring the entire fleet of devices up to speed. Everyone meaning google and manufacturers have to make some serious choices as the days move forward. It’s pretty clear issues exist regarding updates because at this past event Google/Samsung had no discussion ever existed regarding updates and how ice cream would be implemented. Clearly google is leaving the details to all manufacturers and carriers in my mind that’s not a good idea..

Why do you bother giving your worthless opinions?

Is it really so hard to put one tiny little sentence together correctly? What you just stated makes absolutely no sense, unless you’re dyslexic… Come to think of it, being dyslexic would explain A LOT about you. Come back when you have your thoughts straightened out and arranged so they make sense.

Go back to PHANDROID and go troll there I am pretty sure they miss your USELESS COMMENTS. Take that idiot @snowbdr89 with you also (2) phandroid trolls

So much for your statement of “Gingerbread is dead”. It clearly isn’t.

If it comes with NFC, I may think of getting this instead of the Galaxy Nexus.

I am not too worry about getting ICS. Third party ROM will pop up months ahead of an official release.

However, without NFC, Android Beam won’t work. This is a shame because the Rezound’s display probably isn’t PenTile and should produce more accurate color than the Galaxy Nexus. The Rezound is every bit as powerful as the Galaxy Nexus, in terms of hardware, but there’s no excuse for HTC not to include NFC almost a year after Google made a push for NFC since the debut of the Nexus S.

Damn, you need to get your facts straight. First of all, the GNex will have a much higher DPI. Second of all, PenTile is not the devil and I will give you some good reading material in a moment. Third of all, HTC tends to only use LCD displays as of late. What are the number one complaints from reviewers and owners? The display. HTC has been using cheap, washed out displays for quite some time.

Read this if you want to be more informed about PenTile and its pros/cons.
