Google TV 2.0 rolling out to Sony TVs, Logitech Revue coming soon

Several users have reported via the twitters that they are starting to see the massive update to Google TV, which is built on the Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS, rolling out to their Sony TV devices. Google unveiled Google TV 2.0 last week, and indicated that the update was set to roll out to Sony TVs today, and Logitech Revue devices soon.

Sean posted an overview of just what the Google TV 2.0 update would bring to your TV at the end of last week. ¬†As you’re downloading the update, you’ll definitely want to read up on Sean’s post to familiarize yourself with what the update will mean for you.

If you own a Sony Google TV and haven’t seen the update hit your devices yet, you may want to head over to the menu and check for a manual update (Menu –> About –> System Update) to see if it’ll let you install it.

Don’t worry, Logitech Revue owners. Your update should be arriving in the next few weeks. In the meantime, you should have received an email from the folks at Google TV letting you know an update is coming. We promise, it’s really finally¬†coming.

Have you successfully updated your Sony Google TV to version 2.0? How did the update go for you? How are you liking your shiny new Google TV? Sound off in the comments.

I just picked up the Sony Google TV yesterday. I haven’t gotten the 2.0 update yet, but I’ll be checking up on it until it happens.

So I have no cable, just OTA tv. I watch Netflix and stream from my computer on my PS3. And my phone is an iphone, not an android. If I were to pick up a revue (and I feel like I want to) with the update coming would I really get much out of it other than a web browser on my TV? I’ve wanted to play with one but every time I’m somewhere with a demo its not working.

My question is does this include the Sony Blu-ray player with Google TV?

    • Cole Loomis

I answered my own question. I bought it last night and during setup it installed the update.

  • Jorge Moreno

when will be available the revue update?

  • StabMasterArson

I bought a 32″ sony google tv in the last week or so and so far am really liking it. Does anybody know if there’s an easy way to get it to browse my home network for media? It sees my desktop computer and lists it by name in the Media Player app, but when I select it, it says that it cannot connect to the server. Any suggestions would be great.
