LG holding exclusive launch event, AT&T LTE device on the way?

The folks at Engadget have received an invitation to an “exclusive launch event” being put on by LG Mobile that will take place on December 1st. Though LG went to great lengths to hide any indication of the device in the image itself, they left the invitation image name as “LG Nitro.”

Though we don’t know much LG Nitro, it is rumored to be an AT&T LTE device that will sport a 1,280 by 720p HD display similar to what will be found in the Galaxy Nexus, and will likely feature a TI OMAP dual-core processor. If the announcement is in fact the rumored LG Nitro and not some other device, the Nitro could launch as early as December on AT&T’s LTE network.

The event will be taking place in the evening on December 1st, and we’ll be sure to bring you any news that comes out of LG’s announcement. Stay tuned.

damn right i know a friend with a optimus 3D and he is still using froyo because not many roms have everything working in GB! god i will never buy an LG if they keep those updates so slow

Haha…I’ve made LG more than a little angry with me for my articles on them. But I agree. They need to do better with updates.

LG’s lack of support is whats lagging them in sales…. They have very good displays but it doesn’t matter what you put in your devices if you don’t support it!! The LG overlay is bad too…. If LG wants to become a player in this market they should stick to stock android and try to get a tegra 3 device with 720p NOVA display and provide support and timely updates.

True story, everyone. I’m sporting the G2x and it’s plagued with nearly every problem ever reported. Mine was clearly the runt of the litter. LG was not only slow with their official Gingerbread update (“a few weeks” turned into several months), but it also bricked phones due to their proprietary updater suite (OTA updates came about a month later), and it *still* has problems.

            I have:

            * GPS issues (no lock at all 75% of the time, wildly inaccurate 20% of the time like I’m phase-shifting, and the last 5% I’m reserving for a Christmas miracle),

            * APN issues (keep losing my data connection, requiring at minimum a reboot of the connection by going into Testing mode and turning off/on the radio),

            * Hard lock-ups requiring a battery pull, and the slightest drop of rain on the phone triggers the “hey, you plugged in a headset!” circuitry.

            * Screen bleed (honestly don’t care about this issue though)

i remember this picture from back in april when you got a rumor saying
Will LG make the nexus prime?
good times. this phone is really going to compete with the galaxy nexus due to the fact its ti-omap processor is at 1.5 ghz compared to 1.2 ghz found in the nexus. also updates dont matter to me because i will most likely just flash a custom rom like cyanogenmod which i prefer over an official update :D

haha, yes, yes, we recycle our post images here ;)

As a former G2x user, I wouldn’t care if this thing had a 1080p screen and Android 6.0 Krispy Kreme, it’s still not worth it as long as it has an LG logo on it.

Just as someone said on Google+ last night, “People have owned either one LG smartphone or none – nobody buys a second LG smartphone after having been burned the first time.”

As the owner of a LG G2X, the LG customer service and updates are a joke. You couldn’t give me this phone.

I don’t know about this, many ppl don’t like LG phones, and my mom g2x is has issue and is slow as my phone sometime which tell you something. All i saying is no one going to buy a LG phone until they can start producing better quality phone and better update schedules.

no thank you to Lg… I have G2x nightmares still

ATT LTE is a complete joke.

If you have a grandfathered unlimited plan and want to get throttled that much faster go ahead and give it a try.

Just go ahead and look at all the reports of people over at XDA suffering through this.
