AT&T’s 4G LTE speed tests reach 65 Mbps down

You’ve probably been wondering how AT&T’s new 4G LTE network will compare to Verizon’s. It’s not easy being the first contender to face the fastest 4G network in the US, but it seems Ma Bell might have what it takes.

AT&T’s 4G LTE network has launched in select markets, and data speed tests have already shown up. Ranging from 15-65 Mbps down in Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio and Chicago, it does seem AT&T is beating Big Red. At least for now.

Remember, this network is currently under utilized; not many consumers are even able to take advantage of these speeds right now. Once the network gets more congested, we expect speeds to decrease significantly.

Even without a surge of users, 65 Mbps is a very impressive number. I’ve only reached about 25 Mbps on Verizon’s 4G LTE network. Could it be that AT&T will beat the fastest 4G network in America? We’ll have to wait and see, but things do look promising. Hit the source link for more Speed Test images and let us know what you think. Will you be signing up for an AT&T 4G LTE device? If you have been using it, what speeds have you been reaching?

is that all?! Pfft! lol joking, pretty impressive!! looks like we’re getting closer to “true” 4G.

  • alex

    t-mobile’s 4G is pretty fast too :p

  • Black Kristos

I’m still a little light-headed from the earlier announcement that US Cellular may have LTE in my area before either Verizon or AT&T!

  • metafor

So I can blow through my data plan in less than 3 minutes. Sweet.

    • Anthony Domanico

Yes, but those 3 minutes will BLOW….YOUR….MIND.

      • Galen20K

        ha, love this comment lol

    • heath

Unlimited 4g LTE with Verizon, grandfathered!!!

  • OOMatter

Too bad there’s no more unlimited plans. Not really sure that I have a use for 65 Mbps at $10/1 GB. Not that it’s in my area anyway.

  • BigCiX

Ill stick with my unlimited 3G/HSPA plan. Its fast enough.

    • The_Diz

You mean your “throttled once you hit the mystery number of utilization that AT&T allegedly uses some formula to reach but in reality probably just picks on the ppl they think are “abusing” the bandwidth they signed up and still pay for” plan?

    • heath

If you upgrade to a 4g phone you keep unlimited. I still have unlimited with 4g on Verizon. Grandfathered in!

  • snowbdr89

I wonder how sprint customers are feeling…

    • Richard Yarrell

I wonder how those crappy Bionic owners feel on Verizon…Mr. I am waiting to upgrade to the Vigor. Your full of shit egg head..Enjoy that useless Bionic the Rezound, Razr, and Galaxy Nexus BLOW RIGHT PAST that useless device you have rooted or not MONKEY…

      • charliethesuperturtle

Because I can and unlike your jobless fat ass I can afford it so shove that down that hole in your fat face. ASS MONKEY. ; )

        • Richard Yarrell

You JERKS are laughable at best Mr. Wanna be tech heads go get a life you are a bum and need to take your BROKE ASS to unemployement and apply for a real job. Stop trying to make everyone think your about something. I laugh at you bums…..

          • squiddy20

            1. You’re one to talk about being a “bum”, “broke”, and “unemployed” since you yourself were living on the streets of NYC about 4 years ago: see page 2
            2. Compared to you, we are not “wannabe (it’s one word dumbass) tech heads”, we ARE tech heads. We know what root is and how to obtain it, we know that Sprint’s data and voice networks are 2 completely different networks. We know that you can’t use data while in a call on the Sprint network. We know that root is NOT for “2 plus year old devices”. These are all things you have said to the contrary, and have been flat out wrong every single time. I laugh at your pitiful excuse for arguments… Children could come up with better…

Dude get a life or beat a puppy or something make your self useful god

      • squiddy20

I wonder how you’ve gotten to be 45+ years old because, once again, you have failed to address the main comment, and have instead chosen to go on your own stupid little tangent/rant. He was talking specifically about network speeds (as is the article) and then you bring the actual phones into the mix. Talk about confusion of the topic at hand…
So, on the topic of the original comment (and article), Sprint’s network speeds suck. When you can access 4G (few and far between), the peak download speed you’ll ever get is 6-8 Mbps, and that’s *maybe* for a few seconds. Average speeds are at least half those numbers. Data proves that. You’re the one who’s “full of shit”.

        • Richard Yarrell

The BIGGEST CLOWN on android and me are you and the above JACK ASS snowbdr89 you bums are seriously USELESS the rooting clowns always thinking your about something. I can’t help but laugh thanks for all your USELESS comments I will FLAME THE BOTH YOU EACH AND EVERY CHANCE I CAN ….It’s honestly better for you to leave this site and take you girl friend with you Mr. snowbdr89….Girly girls..

Wow that was even worse than usual

      • Amoran Zeth

Verizon’s LTE is backed by fiber optic and is holding up against the massive load of LTE users, not to mention their very aggressively expanding coverage area. By the time ATT catches up, it probably wont be able to take the load so well.
But I am still impressed by these speeds though.

  • Steve

I’ve been using AT&T LTE in the Atlanta area and I’m seeing 45- 55Mbps down and 10 – 15 Mbps up.

  • Chris Gustafson

63Mbps on Verizon LTE in September,

  • buckiii2

I just picked up the HTC Vivid for my son tonight. Speed test at home was 30.20 down 6 up! Far north central San Antonio, TX, almost to Bulverde.

  • artiar

Nice but I don’t think those speeds will stay when you start getting alot of people on 4g

  • bryanl

Ma Bell? Do you know what that is? Verizon is just as much as much Ma Bell as AT&T is.

  • J

Att sucks. Thy barely hav 3g and now pushin lte. Sounds dumb. And ver ltr is runnin a constent 45mb wer im at. And I get 4g wer att doesnt evn hav 3g. Pathetic

    • Dylon

You must live in a area with poor 3G connectivity. But your argument is void because clearly you have no knowledge on AT&T 3G. AT&T may not have as large as Verizons 3G, but it’s also GSM network and not CDMA based.
Plus AT&T has perfect 3G in most areas, you just chose to live in the country..

      • heath

Less then perfect 3g everywhere! Former employer: at&t the network structure just doesn’t hold up to vzw

      • heath

Cdma is a much stronger technology than gsm by the way… Gsm is used more across the globe. Funny thing is, most newer Verizon phones use gsm and cdma… So, looks like vzw wins again!

  • pritams

  • heath

This is all hilarious! Verizon, whom I formally was employed by, uses gsm and cdma. Which cdma is way cleaner! And also…. At&t has less than perfect 3g… Everywhere! I was also employed by them, I know what’s what! In most places sprint beats at&t, which is sad to say. And I also have unlimited, unthrottled 4g LTE on Verizon!!!! Give me speed! LTE just got to my bayou!
