HTC Rezound commercial moves to a new beat

We only have three days until Verizon launches the HTC Rezound – the first phone in the US market to feature Beats Audio. Verizon and HTC certainly have a lot to talk about with the HTC Rezound; the device features a 4.3-inch 720p display, a dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm S3 processor and an 8 megapixel backlit imaging sensor. Based on its components, the HTC Rezound will be the most powerful handset available in the world when it launches on November 14.

But HTC and Verizon have chosen to ignore the HTC Rezound’s spec sheet and focus instead on its Beats Audio integration. We’re not sure if the general public cares more about specs or Beats, but it’s nice to see HTC and Verizon take a different approach with the marketing campaign for the HTC Rezound.

What do you think of the new ad? Are HTC and Verizon taking the right approach or should they highlight the phone’s other features?

Since the general consumer knows very little about phone specs (evident by many iPhone users thinking their phone is 4g), I think HTC is taking the smarter approach to entice people.

Yes, but to not even mention the screen resolution??? 720p is a ultimately an excellent marketing term, not some geekspeak… Also, it’s already shipping, so it’s the first in that respect, sorry Samsung

I agree. I know most people don’t understand the advantages of a dual-core processor or what a backlit imaging sensor does, but the 720p spec has been around for over a decade now and most people who own a flat screen TV know exactly what that means.

come on people, i know you’re all waiting for the Galaxy Nexus but how about we give the HTC Rezound the credit it deserves. its an amazing device and is going to make quite a few people happy.

Just like how the HTC Rhyme was meant to be targeted for women, most likely this one is targeted for music junkies. Even though it has some incredible specs.

What about a commercial to the effect of:

“When we made this phone, we realized, if you’re going to have a beautiful HD Display, you should have HD Audio as well. Introducing the HTC Rezound, with BeatsAudio built in.”

Then they get to mention the awesome high resolution display and the audio in a single line.
