My top 5 picks for Gameloft’s $0.99 Android Market sale

Gameloft has some of the best paid Android games around and for the next week all of them will be on sale for only $0.99. The one exception is Modern Combat 3 that will only go on sale for 24 hours, so follow Gameloft on Twitter, Facebook or Google+ to find out when. There are a lot of old games thrown in the mix, so here are my top 5 picks.

1. Modern Combat 3

Modern Combat 3 is easily the best action game on Android. I’ve been playing it a lot over the holidays and it continues to surprise and entertain me with how awesome it is. Keep an eye out for when this one drops to $0.99.

2. 9mm

Fans of Grand Theft Auto will love this game, even though it plays more like Max Payne with a heavy focus on gun fights and slow motion bullet times. The single player campaign only took me a couple days to finish, but multiplayer mode extends the replay value. It earns the medium maturity rating that it received and reminds parents about the Android Market content filter settings.

3. N.O.V.A. 2

I was so pumped for this game last Christmas and I think it lived up to the hype when it finally landed on Android. The gameplay from the single player is fun, but I actually spent quite a bit of time on the multiplayer mode. You will need a fast connection and dual-core phone to keep up with action, but this is one of the few online FPS games that I have enjoyed.

4. The Adventures of Tin Tin

Gameloft just released The Adventures of Tin Tin to coincide with the release of the movie from Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I just handed over my $0.99 to check out the game. Early reviews have been good and I’ve been looking for a new adventure style game to check out.

5. Order and Chaos Online

I’m not a huge fan of MMORPG games, but those that are seem to enjoy Order and Chaos Online. The game has a 4.5 rating on the Android Market mostly because of the continued support by Gameloft. The community has been steadily growing and Gameloft is working on an update that will allow Android players to join and compete with their iOS friends.

    Thanks Taylor

Hey, I just sold my 2002 yellow Ducati 998. Only had 1500 miles and I already miss it!

  • stenzor

24 hours is a huge window for the Modern Combat 3 sale… you basically need to check it once a day to not miss it. Will definitely be picking most of these up.

  • Louis A

I saw it early today. I have being on a shopping spree, just now waiting on MC3

  • Matthew M.

I really wanted to check a lot of these out, but it doesn’t look like most of their games are compatible with the Galaxy Nexus just yet.

    • B2L

Just a suggestion, but why don’t you buy them using the market on your computer. Once they update it to be compatible with the Gnex, you can play all you want. 99 cents is more than worth it, even though you can’t play right now.

      • McLovin

Market may not allow you to purchase them if they are not compatible with your device. There is a work around but it requires root. I had this problem during the 10 cent Christmas sale on an item.

        • Jens Andersson

I have a Samsung Galaxy S II and most of the games are incompitable.
they will probaly be compitable later, so how do i install them on my rooted phone?

          • Jon Garrett

I have the Galaxy S II also but most of their games that they say are NOT compatible actually ARE compatible, I download them to one of my other devices and just copy over the .APK and install it. works 95% of the time.

      • R.S

Like McLovinn said, if the phone(s) you have linked to your account aren’t compatible, then you can’t buy the app.

I learned this a while back when I tried to download the Playstation app that isn’t available for US customers.

Yeah yeah I’ve heard that app sort of sucks but I just wanted it to easily see which of my PS friends were online without having to turn on my PS3.

        • B2L

I guess I didn’t know that. Whenever something isn’t compatible with my Galaxy Nexus, I download it to my Nexus S.

        • h3rmanmunst3r

Download Spark 360…you can sign in to XBL or PSN account and see what friends are playing and even send messages from your phone! Has cool widgets too

    • Gr8Ray

      Working fine on my GNex.

      • Gr8Ray

Errrr…. nevermind. The market said it was compatible and let me purchase and download it, but after it finished downloading the additional files it crashes every time I try to run it.

  • redraider133

Too bad they aren’t compatible with the Asus Transformer.

  • damambt

Great picks. MC3 is the one im holding out on. I have a feeling the servers might go down as Im in the middle of downloading MC3. Im lucky like that.

  • T1392

    MC3 meet me T1392 ;) Can’t wait to play.

  • dillybar

Order and Chaos is basically like playing a WOW clone on your mobile device. Its a very fun game and its very well done. if you get the chance try this game out. For MMO lovers this is the mothership.

  • AndroidCowboy

Nice pics although I would put Asphalt 6 on that list as well. I’ve reviewed both Tintin and 9mm HD on our blog ( if anyone want to take a look. Although for $0.99 I would download them regardless.

it kind of pisses me off.. some work on this device but dont work on another device. yet it downloads from the market. i downloaded assasins creed revelations and it doesnt download on either of my devices, even thought it says compatible. 99 cents gone

    • uknowme

Just saw your comment in the market. Kind of made me laugh.

    • scores87

You can email gameloft and they will allow you to download the APK again for fee

  • Slith

I’m not sure about a movie based game. Nearly always disappointing.

    • YMS123

Just got it, its worth every cent

  • YMS123

Tintin should be higher on the list, just bought it, its amazing, also a good time to grab Asphalt 6 if you missed it during the ten cent sale

  • Todah09

The only game off this list I want is order and caos and it not supported on tegra device….. Sucks

  • kwills88

I got nova… Modern Combat but before it hit 99cents still worth it though… Order and chaos isn’t compatible with my s2 for some reason and I got 9mm.. It’s not the 10cent deal but hey its gameloft I can’t complain with this sale at all… Happy gaming everyone

  • Skis03

    I want MC3!

  • Nathan D.

First three is a must (for me anyways)

  • vid500

    shopping time:) love it.

  • DLX1

Thanks for the heads up on MC3 and TinTin

  • hurric

I got a Asphalt from the 10c apps but I don’t seem to play games in general. I guess just not my habit.

  • thel0nerang3r

I have NOVA2, it looks great, but it’s choppy for me. I have a Honey Comb 3.2 tablet. Stock. What is everyone else running? Do they games play smooth for you?
The controls seem to lag for me. Not sure if it’s my tablet or the games.

  • e36bmer

I took the advice of Tin Tin, and I didn’t expect much. However, I was impressed. It is a solid game.

  • nivekkev

I had most of these already, since MC3 will go on sale, think I will get it, plus since everyone seems to like Tin Tin, guess I will give that a go too. Wasn’t even thinking about that one at all till everyone that tried it seems surprised.

With all of these sales lately I really need more storage space….

  • lokidokie

Tin Tin is surprisingly awesome. My 4 year old and I love it.

  • mcopeman23

    Just downloaded 4 of 5.

  • cb2000a

Well I bought two of the five so far. Not into the blood effects at all…can you turn off blood effects in Modern Combat 3?

  • Zagrash

For some reason, I haven’t managed to get very excited about any of the Gameloft games…

Seeing that Kairosoft released Mega Mall Story though…that damn company just can’t seem to take my money fast enough…

  • donger

time to download these on my tablet.

  • jenskristian

NFL Pro 2012 is free in Android Market right now. Thought I’d should have been priced at $0.99?

  • staryoshi

There aren’t many games that look appealing to me since I snatched a few during the google sale… But I am definitely waiting for MC3. That looks to be fairly generic, but surely worth $1.

  • erimin

    tin tin !!! thnaks !!!

  • cabrone

My friend raves about Backstab HD. He loves that game.

  • Jorge Eslava

They all look great, it’s too bad I can’t buy them since I have an Asus Transformer =(

  • Steven Runciman

My favorite android app is Jeebboo ( It is basically a trivia/quiz game that does NOT require any personal information in order to register and participate (apart from an email account) whatsoever. If you answer correct to jeebboo questions you get the chance to win prize money (cash) and many more. Up until now, i haven’t won anything yet but i’m very optimistic that i will in the near future.

    • Ritch Bitchen

Yeah! you’re right man!! Jeebboo ( is great!!! I have a feeling that i’m gonna be the next winner at jeebboo this week!!! Mark my words!!!

  • McLovin

99 cent sale of Modern Combat 3 is active now!

  • golfpedaler

    Just downloaded MC3…Can’t wait…99 cents!!!

  • KatSelezneva

I’d like to play The Adventures of Tin Tin. My Top-10 Android applications

  • Nick

I love 9mm HD it was one of the first games I downloaded on my Xoom (I downloaded pirate first :p), then when I see for $0.99 I didn’t thought 2 times and bought it, as well happened to Asphalt 6 (but for only $0.10 :D) and Modern Combat 3 (waited 3~4 days for it :D).
And to the guys who rooted their phone and want download other apps, try the following (I’m not responsible if you brick your Device, always do a backup before doing anything dangerous!):
Using root explorer or any like that search on your /system for build.prop
    Now search for ro.product.model=(Your device)
    and ro.product.brand=(Your Brand)
    and Android Version)

    Then change the following:
ro.product.model=Motorola Xoom (just an example, can be any other compatible device works)
ro.product.brand=Motorola (just an example, can be any other compatible device) (just an example, can be any other compatible device)

Then try downloading again after a reboot :D! And after downloaded remember to restore to default!!!
