Verizon Galaxy Nexus watch, 48 hours and counting?

If the latest rumors are correct (and why wouldn’t they be, right?), we could finally see Verizon place the Galaxy Nexus on sale come December 15. Just last week everyone seemed to agree that the Galaxy Nexus could arrive on December 9, but that date came and went just like the dozen others that were rumored before it.

Some would argue that the Galaxy Nexus has never been delayed because Verizon has not announced an official release date, but there is evidence that units have already arrived at multiple retailers and then missed the target launch date. Now stores are just waiting on the final word before placing them on sale.

Rumored launch dates have so far included Nov. 3, Nov. 10, Nov. 13, Nov. 17, Nov 21, Nov. 27, Nov. 29, Dec. 8, Dec. 9, Dec. 13, Dec. 24, and Dec. 31. We agree it’s getting ridiculous, but who’s keeping count?

We haven’t posted a Galaxy Nexus story in the last 48 hours, so we figured some of you were going through withdrawals. Some of the latest updates include:

Basically, it has been the usual chaos since Google first announced that Verizon would carry their device back in October. It’s possible that Verizon royally screwed this launch up or maybe they had some secret plan to drive all the fanboys crazy and clog the tubes with Galaxy Nexus rumors for weeks on end.

Will we finally see the Galaxy Nexus go on sale at Verizon on December 15? I sure hope so, but I won’t believe it ’til I’m holing one in my hands.

I guess we will see… not holding my breath, but will be happy if I have it in my hands on Thursday

    • faun

Not holding your breath would be very well advised if history is anything to go by! ;)

I really feel for you guys waiting for this phone (I’ve decided to stick with my SGS2 for at least another year). I have a similar conundrum waiting for a ICS leak to happen for my phone. I’ve had to ban myself from checking XDA constantly for new rumours of when a leak might be released…

    • Michael C.

Kinda reminds me of the Second Coming. I got a little theory I came up with about that… since “No man knows the day nor the hour”, I can just imagine God up there telling Jesus, “Nope, somebody guessed the 15th, You can’t return on that day… whoops, there goes the 16th… gosh, at this rate, Son, you’ll never be able to return!”

      • Jon Shiflett

I’m mad I can only vote this comment up one. This is f-n smart.

    • goncalossilva

This “obsolete” phone will always get the updates before yours do, no matter what.

    • Shane Dumas

Sadly enough I had it in my hands today and played with it. It is an awesome phone. My Verizon rep was a lucky one to have it as their next employee phone. She was waiting for me to come in so she could show it off. She said they sent back all the phones they had last week. She wasn’t sure if they were getting an update or trying to keep employees from selling them. She is going to let me know as soon as she hears any more information on the phone. I told her until I get mine I will be back in the store everyday playing so when I get mine I will be a pro. Hopefully we don’t have to wait much longer.

  • lament

Selling my Bionic, 48 hours and counting.

    • erikiksaz

It’d be good timing. At least people not in the know have no idea what a google nexus is and when it’s coming.

      • lxgeorge

That’s why we read Android and Me!

    • jorge

hahah just sold mine yesterday this phone better come out this week!

  • PaulsenDrake

    • Mrwirez

      • Thomas

No he doesn’t know what he is talking about.

  • Kavman

I bet we get it here in Australia before Verizon get their act together….and that is saying something!

    • erikiksaz

SRSLY. How many more verizon employees need to be fired for accidentally selling GN’s before the real launch happens?! =p

    • Legend

Would be a dream come true to actually get something first for once :D

    • sdtrinity3

Like not getting the Galaxy S II until months later!?

  • staryoshi

What an inspired name for the Negri promo code… :P I’m sure many will find this collection of links useful, too.

  • Bryan Stoner

This is torture~ Just before holidays come around pleasee!!

  • Luke Haviland

    the 15th….
I’m starting to think Verizon delays their best phones for a purpose
    some evil marketing ploy.
    It happens far too often

I think so, too. Making the people hungry for a bountiful feast.

  • Adryan maldonado

CAN I HAZ NEXUS PLEASE!!!!!! Seriously. Im starting to hate verizon. Im getting tired of this garbage. Goodness its like every phone gets delayed. Why does verizon suck so much at releasing phones. I want to personally slap the CEO or whoever is in charge of these releases

  • thechad

    just in time for Christmas

    • Futureboy

or… just in time before angry mobs storm the Verizon stores.

  • Emmanuel Rodriguez

Man I want it soooo baaadd. But I’m in the T-mob

    • aakash

you will get it eventually, but sadly for that you will have a wait a *little* longer.

  • Sathariel

I was planning on switching to my own individual plan on Verizon from my father’s family plan on T-Mobile but with how badly Verizon has handle I’m reconsidering my decision…….

  • Jack Thakar

    Droid-Life is saying the 15th.

    • Sathariel

Until Verizon says it’s the 15th, I’ll remain skeptical.

    • Futureboy

Someone should make a web-based “Countdown to Galaxy Nexus” clock that automatically resets itself every 48 hours.

  • dacatalyst41

Isn’t it sad how desperate we’re all getting…combing blogs every hour for an update that bears the word “Official”….yep. Verizon is really makin me wanna jump ship!

  • jamal

Hopefully this the real deal, too much wait and running out of patience.

    • jamal

Hoping this gets released so the android community can move forward alteady..

    • Shadowlore

Agreed. While I want the phone as bad as the next guy, I’m tired of having dreams that VZW has officially announced it, and wasting my day refreshing blogs to see no news updates on it. I need to move onto more important things… much like the rest of us ;)

  • Ilyse Rose

I won’t believe anything until I see it, in stores, being handed to people. Until then this phone doesn’t really exist to me.

  • Patricio Acuña

see to believe i think that is some of us are thinking about now

  • Dan13

“I guess we’ll just have to stay patient now, won’t we? *eye twitch* Yes, we all just LOVE being patient.

  • Omar Santiago

This is the phone version of Duke Nukem Forever! it wont come out until it isn’t relevant anymore!
And when it is released it will be trumped by the slew of ICS phone due to be released shortly after.
expect this phone to be launched unlocked on 12/22/2012.

    • Shadowlore

As someone else said in another post.. my only regret is that I have but one +1 to apply to your post ;)

  • psipher

at least we have “25 Days of Tegra” to keep us preoccupied until VZW makes up their mind.

  • Anthropic

I still can’t get over the whole 5mp camera thing, why oh why isn’t it the same 8mp in the GS2 :(

    • goncalossilva

I don’t think they would be able to include the “zero lag shutter” with a higher resolution. It’s a trade-off IMHO.

  • cwjones4

that’s the day after my birthday! i guess i can’t complain about that, right?

  • Emmanuel Lazcano

Hmmm…. So it might be available for Christmas!

  • levelm

I’ll believe it when I see it.

  • roamdeus

By the time Verizon releases it tmoble will b sold

whoever wants a gsm gnex. Let new know

    • Charlesbrown79

What’s the price on one of those?

  • sdtrinity3

This is gonna be the beat overall phone. Still can’t believe tmo didn’t get this first.

    • sdtrinity3

Damn auto correct! I meant best overall phone.

  • aakash

its awesome if its true, i will believe it when I get it in my hands. i dont want to raise my hopes and get disappointed again. BTW, lol @ Protip: Coupon code: VZSucks! :)

  • myandroid99

come to tmobile galaxy nexus plz….

  • ZRod

The people at Best Buy wouldn’t even let me look at one =( I just asked to see it, not buy… then they proceeded to tell me how nice it was… So cruel =’(

  • federalreserve

The real question is, will the Galaxy Nexus launch before the end of the world on Dec 21st? Or will it cause the end of the world?

    • xfaith

You got a year for that one…..

  • luis Hernandez

    We should start lining up!

  • davetheAndroid

I believe this is what is called “beating a dead horse”!

  • jawabba

    Nexus? Never heard of it.

  • zippyioa

I can’t believe that its taken this long for Verizon to start offering this big news handset!

  • jdawg334

Since Verizon has had such problems that they’ve delayed this phone so many times and other sources have found some serious bugs, I think I will wait on the next latest and greatest phone-perhaps a Motorola. I had a couple dumb phones that were Samsung and both were excellent but the OG Droid has been awesome to me as well.

  • stenzor

    “holing one”

  • David Hughes

I guess I need to tell my peers that I could be sick again on Thursday, like I was almost sick last week too, they are going to catch on if this goes on much longer.

    • Shadowlore

Alternative is to get a job right across from a VZW store ;) *looks out Window.. yep.. it’s still there* ;)

Let everyone else have their 15min smoke breaks.. I’ll take my playing frogger to get across the highway to the VZW store, anyday XD

  • chaboud

I’m *awfully* tempted to just go out and get the HSPA+ handset… Except that it will inevitably result in the immediate release of the HSPA+ handset on T-Mobile and AT&T for far less.

  • xfaith

Ill just be happy when its finally released. I dont have Verizon, but maybe the will at least bring hope that the GSM version will follow suit soon.

  • Kenneth Ohonba

Hurry up and come out already so other devices could start receiving their 4.0 updates.

  • Tony Rivera

Is not gonna happen, I lost all my confident on Verizon. The worse product lunch in history, totally damaging the Nexus brand.

  • Samar

Fingers crossed and locked for 48 hrs..C’mon already.

  • smisa27

Let’s see how long this countdown will last this time. Hopefully there will be an end to the countdown and not an extension.

  • jenskristian

The Norwegian launch is just around the corner. Samsung has confirmed that the devices has been sent to retailers. Should be launched this week. Maybe we’ll beat the US? :-P

  • laosgurllynn

Ive been wanting this. why cant it come to Tmobile? Besides, two people have had this already, shouldnt it be illegal that some people at best buy handed to some people when it hasnt been released yet?

  • aranea

More importantly when is the GSM version going to be available?

  • la_resistance28

I know it’s minor and nit-picky, but I still can’t get over how they stripped the “Google” logo off the back of the Galaxy Nexus. Oh, and “Galaxy Nexus” instead of “Nexus Galaxy”? Either Google’s losing their branding leverage vs Samsung/Verizon, or they just don’t even really care about emphasizing their own brands.

  • beatrixasdfghjk.

Well, I remember saying that at least the US would get it before Australia but, wow, all three of the nation’s major carriers have announced they’ll be selling it, starting tomorrow.

What else could go wrong with Verizon’s ‘launch’?

  • sgumer

can’t wait to see the new devices.

  • verizonisevil

everyone should boycott verizon. phone companies will see their phones are not selling through verizon and they’ll switch to a more compentant and cheaper carrier. all future launches will be on time and with it’s intended apps preloaded and bootloader unlocked. internet/tv/phone customers should also boycott and choose another provider that doesn’t want to destroy net neutrality. then verizon goes out of business and is bought out by some other carrier and we have world peace, second coming of christ and avoid armageddon in 2012 and global warming will fix itself. LOL

  • ToonPanda

I’m not from the US, so I don’t know about the carriers. But this is one sweet ass phone! :)

  • HoLfElDeR

hahahahah this is so hilarious :)

  • Hall Lo

This launch is so screwed up… come on verizon!

  • thekaz

I just want to play with this phone and see if it is the one I want so I can finally decide. I tried to Razr – didn’t like the feel of it in my hand, and hate motoblur. I don’t mind sense, so the Rezound if a possibility, though the one I played with had no power…

I’ve waited 10 months since I was upgrade eligible. I just want a new, better phone already! c’mon Verizon!

  • Nicholas Vettese

I hope that one day someone explains exactly what happened with this launch. It will most likely be the first and last Nexus on the Verizon Network.

Worst case scenario, you get in line to buy the Galaxy Nexus. When its your turn, the attendant says “I’m sorry, its out of stock.” :P

  • YNWA

Haha I was just wondering why I hadn’t heard anything about it in the last 48 hours.

  • epps720

Really hope this thing comes out on Thursday and really scared that if it doesn’t it may not come out “by the end of the year” as promised. The lifeline on my Razr loaner is running out!!

  • Nathan D.

Don’t hold your breath, that all I’m saying.

  • zyphbear

I honestly hope they finally get to releasing this device, not only so everyone can get their hands on it, but also so it can stop being in the rumor stage and just constantly getting dragged back into the news.

  •!/profile.php?id=583695634&ref=profile rahuly2k7

I don’t even care about getting the galaxy nexus, thank you google for choosing only verizon and ditching the rest of us on other carrier… My contact is ending in january, guess my next phone will be better than galaxy nexus with a quad core processor..

  • seoci

As nice as this phone is, I’d still rather have a Droid 4. I’ll never be able to give up my keyboard.

  • MoSDeeb

This isnt the first ridiculously delayed launch by verizon and it will not be the last. How is it all the low end garbage gets released on time while high end devices are delayed repeatedly. Do they not have tbe same level of quality control?

  • mikesuds

    Please. Please?

  • Diaeko

damn you are still waiting…i feel very sorry for you guys

  • nsnsmj

Google should never have another Nexus device for Verizon.

  • PiTTDRoiD

it seems a Galasy Nexus…..Samsung….AFTER THEEEEEEEEEEM!!!!!

  • spintrex

All the delays on Galaxy Nexus have had me on the edge since they announced it back in November… even though I’m not planning to get it… SAY WHA

  • wildkarrde21

I’m stuck on AT&T but even I’m getting impatient with the ever-receding release date of the VZW Galaxy Nexus…

Google needs to go back to releasing their Nexus line on their own and then let the carrier versions come later if they’re gonna pull this kind of crap.

  • Louis A

Basically it has got to the point that I don’t really care much about this phone any more. When ever it comes out fine, I will see it to believe it.

  • JamTheMan

I am just glad that they finally hit Denmark, at a very low stock though. But mine will be here in a day or two.!!!

  • BigCiX

I’m glad at&t doesn’t have delays like Verizon.

    • alina10

At least Verizon is taking it’s time and a better network than AT&T, can you hear me now?

  • mrmrchris

I’m really starting to feel for you guys accross the pond who are still waiting. It’s been a joke with all these dates and the lack of any real information from Verizon. It’ll be worth it when you get your hands on it though. Sit tight!

  • Black Kristos

The whole community needs to move past NexusGate and get on with what we were doing prior to September. CES 2012 cannot come soon enough.

  • honourbound68

screen at work shows do not sell before 12/14… so not sure if the cell kiosk will sell on 12/14 or 12/15 :(

  • Jeb

i really don’t care when it launches on Verizon, i’m waiting on the unlocked t-mobile band phone.

    • Kaote

I’m with you, but not very optimistic that we’ll see it anytime soon.

  • nwilliam3

I’ve just come to accept the fact that I have to wait until….whenever. Now, I’m more focused on making sure I got that $100 discount that has been floating around. I’ve been with Verizon for over a decade, I purchased the OG Droid the day it was released and two years later it’s still in my pocket. I WANT MY $100!!! (+ the last $50 new every two that coming my way)

  • AceoStar

The only thing I want more than a Thursday release, is an ATT release on thursday paired with a LTE rollout in my area so I dont need to switch :p

  • breinhar

I’m just gonna go ahead and say what everyone is thinking. The galaxy nexus is a myth. A legend. It is the baby of lock ness and elderado!

  • Himal Limbu

cant wait now. hope its true

  • Tamas Cristian

Galaxy Nexus landed yesterday in Romania ..Vodafone

  • staryoshi

Newegg has the GSM unlocked model for $700 for those interested :P I’m no longer interested in the GNexus, but I hope it comes in soon so I can try it.

  • mclarensr

Release the phone so the GSM customers can get theirs that much quicker, hopefully. Will believe it when I see it.

  • William McNair

I am so glad some of these apps are only $0.10. I am not wasting my money on apps I won’t use. It is like a premium trial.

  • ramenchef

I feel bad for all the verizon customers waiting for the GNexus. They’re having to push back their next upgrade date simply because verizon keeps pushing back its release.

  • HolidayNC

Ordered an HSPA+ version from Canada; I’m likely to have it before it releases on Verizon.
    Take THAT, big red!

  • miked

I would be cool if we could actually buy it this week. I know my local stores have them they are just waiting for the official word.

  • miked

FYI Newegg is now selling the GSM version for 699.99 plus free 2 day shipping

    • jakymiwm

Just about to repost that here.

  • osc707

Lol, so awesome that you guys have kept track of all the “release” dates. I really think that VZ has dropped the ball on this one.

  • Dan Jones

My work phone is Verizon, but I’m currently using a Droid 2. Maybe they’ll let me upgrade to the Galaxy Nexus.

  • VS

Glad to see this phone finally being released in the States. If it had been released closer to the worldwide annoucement, perhaps I’d of gotten it over the HTC Amaze 4G.

Oh well, it worked out in the end, Amaze 4G is confirmed to get ICS in 2012, has NFC for BEAM capability and I only pay $30 a month for prepaid service (Walmart plan / 4G HSPA+ 42MB speed) vs close to $80 at Sprint (for pathetic 4G WiMax speed).

Cheers to ICS and the Galaxy Nexus!

  • Thomas Biard

I bet there will be a huge adoption of this phone, but only by the true Android Geeks (would be me if I was ready to upgrade). I’ve noticed when new phones come out now there are no lines at the stores, and they are easily obtainable on Verizon’s site…going back to yesterday how so many phones get released all the time that there is no hype. I guess it kinda makes it better for those of us who truly want a certain device

  • GeauxLSU

Any word on the Droid 4? Could it be released on the 15th also?

  • yankeesusa

i’m counting down the days that sprint gets the nexus. Although I will probably wait till they get an lte phone next year. Not due for an upgrade till june and am looking forward to the upgrade sprint is supposedly doing to their 3g network plus adding LTE. If by then sprint is still dropping the ball then big red will have a new customer with 5 lines.

  • securifirm

Wonder if this will come to Sprint…and if so when. Hopefully it doesn’t have WiMAX since it’s pretty much useless

  • dcdttu

The problem with delaying a phone this long is that the cell phone market moves at a blistering pace. Having a phone release as close as possible to the announcement date is crucial, as to not screw over customers in the long run. Now, with several months under our belt, the forced 2 year contracts we will have are going to cause us to have to wait, again, months to get another device down the road.

It’s really better to get these things out quickly, bugs or not. Waiting causes a very problematic series of issues involving out of date handsets, feeling like we were ‘sh*t on’ by Verizon, and having a very old phone in the future while others are happily upgrading.

  • Trevor Cameron

Honestly, this is getting ridiculous. At one point in time I was so excited everyday, waiting to see a release date. Now I’m just annoyed. Somebody wake me up when this thing is really available to be purchased!

  • ndub21

Here we go again. Honestly, I hope this is the real deal, but this whole release was botched a long time ago. Now it’s just a circus. Who even knows if it will be released in 2011? I’m sure they lost a lot of sales from all this. I want to know what the reason for the delays was. Also, I NEED the GSM Galaxy Nexus to be released. That’s really the only reason I care about the Verizon version.

  • Renato S.

I think that Verizon didn’t want RAZR and Galaxy Nexus to overlay each other, they came up with millions of possible excuses like bloatware, Wallet, etc. and in the end they succeeded, they got RAZR and Galaxy Nexus to be launched some weeks apart.

  • Jason Toering

The more they push this damn thing back, the more resolute I am to stick with my OG Droid for a little bit longer. I’m sure the price will drop in Feb, and hell, by then the Tegra 3 phones might actually be dropping.

    • Ari32

I’m with you. Even tho my OG Droid is janky as hell now, I might just wait for a tegra 3 device because this Galaxy Nexus business is ridiculous. The NEXT Nexus will launch before the Galaxy at this rate…

  • Marcus

I love that website: Has Verizon Released the Galaxy Nexus? I lol’d. I am disappointed in Verizon for being so crappy on launch dates >:[

  • Mike Hanel

I hope this isn’t a glimpse into what is gonna happen if T-mobile ever releases a version of this phone… If I was on Verizon I would have pulled what hair I have left out by now!

  • kimminer1

    Patience is a virtue

  • thaghost

Google needs to make a statement or at least apologize for the handling of this release.

  • Donald Williams

” Someone made a website called Has Verizon Released the Galaxy Nexus? ”

Thats awesome. Nice and simple site. Made me laugh.

Come on Verizon dont let us down. I would like to see what this beast can really do so when Tmo gets it (if they do) I can talk my wife into an upgrade.

  • Jimmy13

Still don’t think it’s as ground breaking other than the OS than the other Nexus devices.

  • donger

    release it already.

  • n25philly

    48 weeks and counting…

    48 months and counting…

    48 years and counting…

Let’s see how far it goes!

  • Jason Hernandez

It’s been a roller coaster ride waiting for this thing to come out. I purchased my Bionic in October because my OG Droid finally died on me (screen is out for good). What’s funny is that I was holding out for the Galaxy Nexus. Wife’s upgrade came up and Galaxy Nexus was just being announced. The result is a Bionic and iPhone 4S. Oh, well.

  • eliander mendoza

I don’t why people are waiting for this smarphone….. I am tired of the rummors they need to hurry up. will they release it this year or the next one???

  • Skis03

I hope that if finally shows up because my Droid 2 is dying. I have never had more problems than with this phone.

  • Andy_jr

I don’t know about you guys, but the “Has Verizon Released the Galaxy Nexus?” site cracked me up.

  • http://Note Uncemister

Fuck the Nexus, what about the Droid 4? Some of us want a keyboard…

  • mikeytusa

I am not holding my breath on this one …. been let down too many times now.

  • eioous

    48 Hours and counting ( +72 hrs……+another 48hrs……in 2012)

  • IntlGrizzly

    hopefully…but I doubt it

  • craig

The Nexus has shown up in stores. I work for a 3rd party retailer and have 15 sitting in a cabinet.. my Rep told me that they delayed it’s launch on the 9th because many stores didn’t have the device yet and they wanted everyone to have it at launch. True? No idea.. but it was such a let down when I went into work and saw the DO NOT SALE email.. I was totally looking forward to getting a little hands on time with the phone. As far as I know, it is still set to launch on the 15th.

  • Zeratoda1

i guess it does not hurt to dream :D

  • Adam Snyder

    sprint nexus galaxy before verizon?

  • osc707

This dang Nexus Saga, can VZ just release it? I think that Google should rethink its launch partner for future Nexus. I really thought Sprint had dibs on getting it first this time

  • Taylor

Based on my experience with carriers (in general), I blame Verizon.

  • humidity

I plan on waiting outside VZW this Thursday in hopes that it releases that day!

  • Karen

Yea here is comes! I bet it is going to live up to expectations! Ya’ll should know that this company Goba is giving away an Galaxy Nexus to someone that tries their app this December:
