Verizon’s Galaxy Nexus captured in its retail packaging

This might be the most encouraging sign we’ve seen to date. The Galaxy Nexus has shown up in actual Verizon retail packaging. The original poster over on XDA indicated that this is in a they are shipping to Verizon stores this week. The exact whereabouts of the box photographed here are unspecified.

In keeping with the Nexus theme of a pure and unfettered (well, mostly unfettered) Android experience, the packaging is about as minimalist as possible: just a white box with a red interior. It doesn’t appear that any extra goodies are packed inside either. It’s just a charger and a USB cable, although that’s not really the point of the Nexus line.

Unfortunately there’s no accompanying information confirming the release dates, but this has to make you feel pretty positive about Verizon’s hopes to release by the end of the week that we’ve been hearing about.

It’s been a long road to this release. Has your interest in the Galaxy Nexus waned over the last couple months, or are you going to be the first in line?

About time…. :D Can I have it now please?!

    • WarDrake

      NO you can’t!
you can go wait in line tho, oh wait…

    • pikahatonjon

not gonna lie. the red interior looks smoking hot.
      give pls :D

      • Alex

        I’d much rather it be a nice T-Mobile pink…

      • kazahani

        Packaging, shmackaging!

    • JLix

      Last pic……

Even though it is turned slighly and showing us more of the back of the phone, no way is this phone as thin as they claim. Thing looks twice as thick as my Sammie Tab 10 at the bottom.

Something seems fishy with either this pic or the specs. I am guessing specs.

      • heeros

The specs mentioned during the release have been for the HSPA+ versions of the phone. They admitted that the LTE version would be thicker. I don’t know if they’ve mentioned how tick exactly.

    • Sean the Electrofreak

      Needs more Sprint.

  • Shadowlore

Shenanigans. I say they’re toying with us more ;)

In all seriousness, good to see a light at the end of this tunnel… lets just hope it’s not a freight train.

  • Artie

Hoping this means Friday will be the release date.

Congrats Verizon users… Any day now….

    • WarDrake

feels more like they’re gonna get a Wait for it…
      wait for it…
      just a little bit more…

  • staryoshi

I can’t wait to see this phone in stores so I can play around with it. If I were to buy a phone next week, it would probably be between the Nexus and the Rezound… We’ll see though :)

  • tequilya

C’mon baby! Poppa wants a new phone for Christmas!

  • markL

i REALLY liked the slip case that came with my nexus one. It cleaned all the fingerprints off the device after sliding around in my pocket in that thing after half an hour. All in all it probably cost google less than $1 per case. If I had to buy it, im sure it would have been at least $10.

I really hope they don’t cheap out and not include the $1 case.

  • stenzor

    The packaging looks sleek!

  • mikeytusa

Ahhh – just a little more torture, courtesy Verizon.

  • Sil Claeys

  • Kevin Amundson

It’s about time. Now we just need to see it for sale… This week please!

  • br14n

    Isn’t that beautiful?

  • T1392

If you zoom in on the last pic it shows a headset in the box. Can’t wait to get it.

    • T1392

Sorry 3rd pic. Fail on my part smh

    • Sean Riley

I saw what you were talking about, but I couldn’t discern what it might be. I still don’t see the earbuds, although on quite close inspection that could be a 3.5mm connector glinting in there.

  • mikeyDroid

The packaging is white, and fits the product tightly, BAN THIS PRODUCT FROM THE SHELVES!

    • stenzor

      It’s also rectangular

      • WarDrake

How dare they make it black and have a bezel on the front!?!?

        • Andrew Castro

It flat surface is too flat, my Apple patent senses are tingling!

          • Bryan Stoner

I’m so confused guys. I thought this was the iPhone. Why does it say Galaxy Nexus?

    • kevin charliethesuperturtle

      Its also thin :O

  • Joe Hon

The OP at XDA didn’t say it was a Verizon store. Where did you see that?

    • Sean Riley

Apologies, he said shipping to Verizon stores and I made the wrong inference. Will update.

  • Wayne Winkler

/wipes up the table after drooling.

  • natthompson72

So…close…I can almost feel it in my hands now…

  • koorsr

Please please please bring this phone to Sprint. LTE, WiMax, both, or neither, I really don’t care I just want the phone.

  • Dlux

Man, if AT&T didn’t have their death grip on me with their grandfathered unlimited data plan…. I’d be elated.

  • Greg

This is exciting….but seeing the pictures drives me further into denial about the phone’s thickness…

  • Billy

    I just had a nerdy androidgasm ….

  • Billy

So … will I have to wait in line or will a pre-order appear so that it just arrives on my doorstep … magically delicious.

  • GetGood

Can anyone confirm a Costco release date?

    • Angela

I work in the phone kiosk in Costco, and we don’t have any information yet. I’m itching to get my hands on that thing!

  • Matthew Ward

That’s great now get it on other carriers. Really tired of all the exclusive deal, a nexus device should be available on all bands.

  • Drew

wake me up when tmobile get it.

    • Sam Savitt

you will never wake up then….

  • oddball

I actually really like the simplicity it’s about a functional product rather than how much has been spent on a marketing campaign. My upgrade date is so close too

  • Bryan Stoner

Oh BABY!! Could it get any SEXIER!!

  • roamdeus

OK OK enough with the Verizon nexus where is the T-Mobile version I’m hoping that I get ics on my nexus s on the same date its out on Verizon that would b a great treat …..I’m definitely crossing my fingers on that 1since I’m not gona hold my breathe on the T-Mobile version

  • adaam93

I absolutely love how minimalist the packaging is, none of the usual marketing word vomit you find on most things.

  • Nathan Diaz

Well it took them long enough

  • thefullritz

Just a little closer, come on Verizon… can do it!!

  • Louis Atu

It’s about time start but they have lose a lot of great hype for this great phone.

  • Dan Jones

Beautiful. I have a Verizon phone from work. Maybe I can get them to get me an upgrade.

  • Diaeko

still no nexus prime in the us?

  • Richard Yarrell

Yes baby… I will be ready DAY ONE…

  • Inquizitor

Expect Verizon’s handling of the release to be along the lines of, “We heard you guys really wanted a pure Google experience, so we finally got you one! How awesome are we?”

I’d be disgusted if I weren’t so desperate to give them my money for this thing.

    • Andrew Castro

I doubt it will have the marketing blow out of a Droid device. Average Joe consumer won’t touch this with a 30 ft pole if Verizon doesn’t promote the hell out of it. Please don’t drop the ball on this one Verizon, hopefully people realize the beauty of a pure phone.

All and all if it is a “failure” then this justifies Verizon assertion that people want UI Skins and droid branding : (

    • Futureboy

I’d be careful about using the words “Pure Google experience” and “Verizon” in the same sentence until it can be proven. At the very least, I would bet they are sullying it in some way that will prohibit you from tethering, in which case, it’s not a “pure” Google experience” but rather, “as pure of a Google experience that you can get on Verizon.”

  • GeauxLSU

There is a VZW logo on the instruction book.

  • Steve Barry

I thought they were going to make the front as naked as possible, but I do believe there is going to be branding on the back. I’m a fan of this choice, as it keeps the overall size of the phone down if there isn’t a big ‘V’ on the front. Or any other carrier markings for that matter.

  • itzxdjx

Yeah i couldn’t wait, so i got the s2, BUT i made my friend wait, muahhaha, i can’t wait for him to get it! My wait tho will be for ICS to get on the s2…

  • NegativeOne13

    *foams out the mouth*

  • Ricky Grundy

    that is one big nexus.

  • mugurelu

All this waiting is killing me.
It better be great or i’ll buy an iphone 4s and throw this on the window!

(no i won’t, it doesn’t have 4g, great camera and design, great android ics :))))) )

  • MoSDeeb

Patience is a virtue… I have almost no patience waiting for new tech haha

  • Black Kristos

Still ready to throw my cash at Verizon. This MT3G needs to be retired already!

  • itzxdjx

    Att version!!!!! Please!!!

  • seven2k

God I hope Sprint gets this or im off to ATT. =(

  • George

Dang, no pouch for the phone like the Nexus One (ebay ones are cheap quality…)
    Would have been nice!

  • YNWA

I will just be glad to have a phone that gets updates. Just got my 2.3 update for the Droid Charge yesterday. First bug fixes since it came out in March. I will be happy to get my hands on the Nexus for that reason alone.

  • Oscar Ortega

Now im waiting for the tmobile version! where are you?

  • kidphat

Anyone know if it comes with earphones?

  • pritams

Agh…why such a smart hunk is wrapped in PINK!!!

    • Greg

      It’s red, genius.

      • pritams

May be..but the color code in my PC says is #DC3B4D.To me it’s not RED.But may be it’s for the way pic is taken.I have not read the whole article before but I can see your point..the article writer wrote RED…well offcourse Pink is a form of red if you see that way.

  • zyphbear

I’m really waiting to see what the outside looks like, not just the inside.

Though this many ‘leaks’ are starting to feel like a purposeful thing to keep the Nexus in the news. We really just need it official for ordering and cost.

  • nwilliam3

I don’t care if it comes in a brown paper bag, just release it already!

  • Luke Haviland

    Oh it looks so pretty.
I hope while they are waiting to release this thing they are mass producing them because it seems like everyone is waiting for this and if they sell out before i can get one i will sit alone in my room with the lights off and cry
    cradling my droid charge

  • Luke Haviland

If i had the money i’d be the first in line.
sucks being a poor college student in love with high priced technology

  • humidity

    Show me the release date!

  • Sam Savitt

    no google colors….

  • Kent Burton

I am going to snag this up as soon as they release it….. the only question is … when …. .

  • donger

Excited! it looks kinda big in the last picture.

  • Henry Gomes

Minimal is best. Great products come in great packaging.

  • LukeT32

    Jan you will be mine!!

  • mclarensr

Encouraging. Would have been better in AT&T blue. Lets wait and see.

  • eioous

Now just need one of these to come out on T-Mobile.

  • Adryan maldonado

    It hasn’t waned at all.

  • tpulu

Hasn’t waned for me either… just got to find some funds for this. Damn this tech addiction lol

  • DroidPWNsApple

aaaaaahhhhhh soo close. This is just like the week before my 21st birthday, or worse!

  • sundaze

  • ToonPanda

And when is AaM going to give one away? (to me?) ;-)
This is a sweet looking phone!

  • Wojciech ZiÄ™tek

Sill can’t get this in Poland :( I know that almost all people in U.S. think that Poland is somewhere in Asia, and polar bears are running everywhere! BUT THEY DON’T! We have everything that same like you, exept Samsung Galaxy Nexus unfortunately :/

    • Sean Riley

To be fair we still can’t get it here either. Although it certainly looks like we are going to beat you to it.

By the way, I like the idea of Asia Poland filled with polar bears. I had a friend from Finland in high school that used to love to mess with people and tell them that Finland was covered in snow year round and that penguins were running around all over the place.

  • chris

i cant believe they call this a galaxy nexus
for one its a Google phone so why not call it nexus galaxy
2nd this is phone is not even a galaxy s 2 phone so yea …specs are not even the same…not even close
gs2 is better only thing this has over it is the screen nothing else

    • Sean Riley

Well it does have ICS and should have the inside track on Jelly Bean as well. But from a pure hardware point I wouldn’t argue too much with someone that decided to go with the SGS2 over the Verizon Galaxy Nexus.

  • sylar

oooh pretty, no but it does look cool and while i like my phone fine I would like to get my hands on that phone.

  • Tom Murphy

  • flamesbladeflcl

so want I wish I had the money for it
